How does Pops Anderson prefer him at 250+??? That just is riduclous. I know he a is bullish guy, but that extra weight does nothing but slow him down and affect his stamina. He should be weighing in at 240-245 for all his fights.
Peter sucks a lot of wind and does not have a defense. If Vitali is at 50%, he will knock Peter out, finish what McCline did not do.
Only read the 1st page of this thread....did anyone else notice that dumbo that couldn't even spell Klitschko on that punch bag?
maybe the speaker mistaked the german with the american pounds. one german pound is exactly 0,5 kilos while in american it's 0,454. that would mean peter is 288 pounds. but it was clear to me that the speaker had no clue what he was talking about, he also mentioned peter's height as 1,88m (6'2).
He speaks of Kilos. I converted it (actually its 317lb). 288lb would be 130kg. But you are completely right: He doesn't even know what he is speaking about. It's the typical 'Hey.. [Insert might be famous] is in our lovely region! We should drop by and pretend to be interested. Maybe we can get a [insert praise region] type of statement so our mostly senior viewers are confirmed in their opinon that [insert repraise region]' coverage.
maybe he got the info peter weighs 288 pounds and translated it in german pounds (0,5) which is 144 kilos. but judging from the video peter is somewhere between 255-265.
You see, on paper this is an improvement, but it is exactly the problem! Let's face it: Peter is never going to outbox Klitschko (either). His only hope for winning is by knockout, or scoring several knockdowns. He is a short, stocky fighter with a sturdy chin and big punching power. Use what you're best at. Okay, against Toney it definitely was an improvement, but Toney was right in front of him, 3 inches shorter and had little power. Throwing combinations has always been the way to beat Toney at heavyweight, because he can't throw more than 30 punches / round with all that fat. However, Vitali is five inches taller and has a sick knockout ratio. Different deal. Peter's record against skilled tall men is already pretty bad: Wlad beat him and McCline nearly knocked him out in the second. Credit to him for rallying and getting the win, but it doesn't really make me confident about his chances. To me, his odds completely depend on how much Klitschko has left. If he's close to his old form, Peter is toast. If he's slowed down, then bullying in might work. Making Vitali work harder than he wants to (especially in the leg department) may force an injury or knockdowns. To me, this sounds like his best chance. But throwing double jabs and that fancy stuff is just inviting to lose a wide decision against the taller and much better boxer.
BigCat has an old picture of him where he's lighter and looks quite fit. It's from a sparring session. I believe Sam was helping Wlad Klitschko prepare for Shufford at the time, so it's in the summer of 2001. Sam fought at 233 and 237 around that time, then went above 240 from 2002 onward.
LOL - the Canadian news does that all the time. Especially in military matters. The Canadian reporter asks the U.S. general: "Are the Canadians playing a crucial role in the offensive?" U.S. general looks confused, then 'gets it' and says 'Uh..yeah'. Then there's a big headline in Canadian Newspaper saying "U.S. General says Canadian troops crucial to success"
Interesting how many people predicted that Vitali's ring rust would make it impossible for him to win - where are they now??? Vitali might get injured in camp or during the fight, but if not he will win in dominant fashion. He was probably in better shape than Peter during his inactive years about ten months out of the year. Getting fat and needing training camp largely to lose weight prevents a fighter from really improving their skills, speed and ring generalship. Peter has shown a little improvement in skills against Toney where he enjoyed a rare height advantage. How is a jab going to benefit him against a 6'8 opponent with a leaning - back defense? Lennox Lewis was the only fighter who landed effective punches on Vitali and Peter has none of his attributes. Vitali by KO around the 8th round, and that's only because he will need 2 -3 rounds to shake of the rust.
I'm starting to suspect Vitali poisons his opponents before fights. There has to be some reason all of his opponents face him in the worst shape of their lives.
No, his opponents read in the ESB forum about how over-rated he is, then they think - wow I can KO this clown easily - if he even shows up. Makes for a lazy training camp.
