Buster Mathis and his son Jr. both fought 2 HOFers. Joe Frazier met 3 and Marvis 2, during their respective careers... so here again we have a father and his son, who both fought at least 2 HOFers during their respective careers. Can we find a father & son, who BOTH fought at least 3 HOFers (or maybe even more...)?
You’re the trivia man, so if you don’t know I don’t give myself much of a chance! Will have a think though…
Floyd Patterson and Tracey Patterson have 7. Floyd fought Ali, Moore, Liston, Ingo and Maxim. Tracey fought Daniel Zaragoza and Arturo Gatti. All those guys are in the IBHOF, maybe I'm missing someone on Tracey's record but that's as close as I can see to 3 each. Maybe one day Junior Jones gets in and he gets to 3
You're right, so far Zaragoza and Gatti are the only HOFers on Tracey's record... so that's another example of at least 2 fought by both a father and his son.
Does Julio Cesar Chavez Sr and JR count? Sr fought HOF fighters Whitaker, Rosario, DLH, Tszyu, Camacho Jr fought Martinez and Canelo who are 2 future HOFers. And if you wanna go further he also fought future HOF MMA fighter Anderson Silva.
Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Ali Jr. combined to have 11 fights I think vs. Hall of Famers (including rematches). Muhammad Sr. had 11. Muhammad Jr. had zero.
I think Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr. will be the answer once Canelo and others get in the HOF. Should be about 8 between them. Oh wait, the OP is designed to not include them.
