Whats up, new here. Don't box but going to start training soon just for a workout, maybe more if I discover I have a talent or intense passion for it. Ive gotten really into boxing recently and I would like to know what some of your favorite bouts from the 90s to early 00s are in the heavyweight division? Ive read the posts an you guys sound like experts. I prefer watching heavyweight matches because I myself if I ever box, that's the division I would have to be in.
Top 5: Holy-Bowe II Bowe-Holy I Tyson-Ruddock II Holy-Foreman Holy-Tyson I HM: Lewis-Mercer, Holy-Dokes, Lewis-Vitali, Lewis-Briggs...
Holy-Bowe 1 Tyson-Ruddock 2 Holy-Dokes (was that 90's I think) Ruddock-Morrison Bennt-Morrison hahahaha - I have happy memory from that night tho ;-)
Ray Mercer vs Bert Cooper Sergei Liakhovich vs Lamon Brewster Andrew Golota vs Corey Sanders George Foreman vs Alex Stewart David Tua vs David Izon Derrick Jefferson vs Maurice Harris Ray Mercer vs Tim Witherspoon Vitali Klitschko vs Corrie Sanders Joe Mesi vs Vassily Jirov Evander Holyfield 1
Moorer-Stewart Moorer-Cooper Derrick Jefferson-Maurice Harris Bowe-Golota I & II W Klitschko-Brewster I Ibeabuchi-Tua Avoid any fight involving John Ruiz.
Tua - Ibeabuchi Brewster - Liakhovich is fantastic Mercer - Lewis They spring to mind amongst the mega-fights already listed but it's been pretty slim, especially in recent years. I personally think that if you were to takew the context and sensation of Holyfield - Tyson I away (not that you'd want to) you're not left with that great a fight. Was a poor FOTY choice I think in a year which had Barrera - McKinney, Liles - Little II and Gatti - Rodriguez. But that's just me. And though it was fought at cruiserweight, if you've not seen Toney - Jirov you really, really ought to.
