Does faith or ethnic origin? Would you be happy to list your favourite Jewish fighters (Which I think has happened), or those of Irish or Italian decent? The wounds of discrimination against black fighters, still sits a little uneasy in boxing history, but there comes a point where you need to start bridging these things, and the way to do that is with humour, and this thread in a cliche way, does this, otherwise you end up being like the Germans, who still cannot get over there demons (at least the country cannot)!
Again, that's nationality. The Jewish fighter thing is a strange one; it's a small curiosity. Good point something that I maybe need to think about a bit more. 'Chris Warren', apart fro being one of the worst posters I have ever come across, is just doing this for a rise. Hence my reply :good
The Irish and Italian decent is another curiosity, as some of these fighters, rightly thought of themselves as American, but playing up their roots sold tickets and made rivalries and money. I guess this Warren fella knew what he was doing, but we have risen to the bait...:!:
I think there's nothing wrong with this thread. "Race" isn't meaningful to me, but nor is the length of someone's hair or the colour of their shorts. And I wouldn't consider such questions as "Favourite bald-headed fighter?" or "favourite fighter who wore tartan (plaid) shorts?" offensive questions. A bit silly but not offensive or distateful. Anyway, today the answer is Marvin Hagler.
i heard if everyone moved to africa in 1000 years time wed all be black (obviously not us but our kids kids kids kids etc...) is that true if so were all the same race therefore theres no such thing as a black or white fighter in fact im gonna make a new thread
LOL, slightly off topic, but I remember when I was about three (mid 70s), I heard my Mum telling my Dad we had new Coloured neighbours. I was so disappointed to find out they were black, I was so looking foward to having a new blue friend!
There's something wrong with it when it's being done for a rise. Damn straight we took the bait; but where I warren now? Terrible poster is 'Chris Warren'.
