I think he was only 19 years old when he fought Arguello. Great fight, great effort.

Frias, when Ray won the title. I have an interesting story about Frias. When I lived in California I went to a Hall of Fame dinner thing at the Commerce Casino, where they had it one year. Usually they had it at the Boneventure and also at the Airport Marriott. I am walking to the stairs to get to the area up near the dinner where the fighters sign autographs and there is Arturo Frias. Some security guard is not letting him go by, and I say hey Arturo! He says tell this guy who I am, I say he was lightweight champion! I am not sure the guard let him get by, but I remember it well.

I felt sorry for him and he looked embarassed by the guard. He was with his wife and I think others, so when I recognized him it made him happy that his wife and those with him could see he was well known for his career. He looks a lot different than his fighting years, but I could see it was him.

Speaking of Ray Mancini, I saw him at a Hall of Fame dinner I think at the Boneventure in the 1990s. He was up at the head table which is raised up 3 feet above the crowd, and I was at a table on the lower floor. He had his son with him who looked to be about 10. I didn't see Ray up close but I always thought he was a class act. I remember during one of his fights (maybe Camacho), he had his shorts stolen, and he wanted them back. They had the words Lenny on them and they meant something special to him, but I am not sure he ever got them back.
