I used to love watching Nigel Benn fight, because you were always on the edge of your seat. Knockdowns, brutal knockouts etc. I think Ricky Hatton is popular because he is very rarely in a **** fight, I can only think of two...... Urango and Vilches
To the people picking their all time favorite as Robinson. How old are you and how many fights of his have you seen?
Simply because I was a Hagler fan. Leonard is a legend, I just dont like him because of the rivalry between the two. Then there's the coke, the domestic violence and the Contender (which I've just never got into). Its all rather irrational, but he's my pantomime villian in the sport I suppose.
My age? None of your business. Lets just say I never watched any of the Robinson fights LIVE. How many fights of his have I seen? A shitload of the famous ones (Basilio I&II, Fullmer I&II, La Motta (VDM), Turpin I&II, Maxim) and several clips from others (not the full fights mind you). I just love the man's style; the footwork, the way the punches flow, the way he can punch so hard off the back foot, and that thing he does were he'll almost jump with the punch, and hardly ever miss clean with it (nearly always lands on the body, the head, or is blocked if the other guy is lucky). He also had great mental toughness, to add to the physical attributes. He was a legend.
I must admit I hate The Contender myself. The Prizefighter series over here was a much better concept - an entertaining night of boxing, rather than trying to find a future hall of famer. If a fighter was really that good, GDP or Top Rank would have signed him up and brought him through, rather than having to star in a 'Big Brother' style series.
All time: Roberto Duran Current: The Golden Boy Special mention (for being the most entertaining): Katsidis, Haye, Cotto Special mention (for being the most entertaining ever): Prince Naseem
All Time: Roy Jones Jr. Present: Roy Jones Jr followed by Floyd Mayweather I also like Cotto and Pavlik alot
all time:- Naz Current:- JC i pick naz for one reason i had the pleasure of watching most of his fights live which was the first fighter i had seen live and you were always n the edge of your seat. he was a cocky ***** but that does not take away from his natural ability and his stage presence
