I think Izon was ranked with his ko win over Lou Savarese at the time.

Maurice Harris v Darrell 'Doin' damage' Wilson. Harris was a young journeyman who could pull an upset and Wilson was always a bit of a surprise. But, man, did they go at it.

My bad! It was Harris and Derrick Jefferson I was thinking of. But on the subject of Wilson, he had a great slugfest with Shannon Briggs

I imagine Joe Hipp was involved in some good scraps that meet this criteria including Bert Cooper. And he may have been unranked when he fought Tommy Morrison in a lovely scrap.

On a more technical end of the spectrum, Harold Brazier presented a tough puzzle for several upper guys at times when I’m sure he was unranked ... but I’d have to do some research to see when he was or wasn’t in the rankings of some organization or other.

I like Hipp he was kinda limited due to swelling and cutting easily but had a few good wins. I was watching him awhile back on YouTube, and he kayoed if I'm not mistaken Jose Ribalta impressively.
