The whole Top Rank card (including the non-televised bouts streamed on their website) was good. It SLAUGHTERED the HBO card. Whoever told me it was a mistake to watch Showtime live instead of HBO (nervousxtian, was it?) - had to have been joking. The highlights of Ramos-Shimoda made it look decent (with a nice KO ending) and Williams-Lara was somewhat entertaining...but Molina-Cintron and Rios-Antillon completely blew them out of the water. Mercito Gesta, Jose Roman, and Mike Lee all scored very impressive knockouts on the Rios-Antillon undercard.
Oh hell - if we're including the Romanian card (not really "tonight" - that was more "this afternoon" for us in the US)... Simion vs. Talape was the #2 Fight Of The Day behind Rios-Antillon. We also got introduced to electrifying heavyweight prospect Bogdan Dinu (speed, power, size, whole package). ...and of course the spectacular Bute KO over Mendy. What a great boxing Saturday. :happy
Bute fight, he is the best 168 fighter living today, hope he gets a chance to knock out SOB Ward!!! Next was Rios fight.............the Williams fight was crooked, those judges should be suspended.
Farmy, I know you like Bute - but you don't think Rios vs. Antillon had more action and competitiveness while it lasted than Bute vs. Mendy?
