Nice thread. Povetkin - I like his style. The guy throws a lot of punches and always comes to fight. He can box too as his amateur pedigree would suggest. He's also in good shape, even though it may not seem like it from appearence. But he'll be a good 12 round fighter IMO. Alexeev - I still think he's got all the potential to go far if he can iron out a few defensive and stamina related issues. I also like Guillermo Jones for his body punching and languid style. Cloud - Since Calzaghe retired I need somebody new to get behind here. I think Cloud is an interesting talent with a lot of raw potential. He shows some good head movement and the framework for good defence whilst still needing refinement. Seems to have natural power. I like watching Dawson too, but I'll say Cloud as somebody different. Kessler - My favourite boxer. Always stands with his opponent and fights. Classical stand up style. No particular big favourites at middleweight. Gevor is a good underrated kid, though. Dzinziruk - Same reasons as I like Kessler. Cotto - Excellent entertainment value and well rounded. I like the fact he can turn up and box or/and put on great technical pressure and bodypunching. McCloskey - A prospect I like at junior welter. Difficult to say how he'll fair at world class until he fights a borderline top 10, but he's made an impressive start. Unusual and tricky style, exciting reflex based defence, southpaw, quick. In truth I like his unorthodoxy. One to keep an eye for. No big favourites at lightweight. I appreciate the textbook style of Marquez...but I can't say I'm a huge fan. Valero is an interesting one, hopefully he'll grab my attention now he's in the US. No favourites at super feather. Gamboa - I think he's the real deal. Many don't. I like that he polarizes opinion. And quite frankly...I don't know how you can't like watching this guy wherever you stand on the debate, amazing physical abilities. JML - I think he's still got a lot to learn as far as footwork. However, its something special to have a guy that you can feel like he has the power to end proceedings at any moment. No major favourites at bantam. I think Mabuza has chances to do something now Marquez as vacated the scene at this weight. Hasegawa is also a good fighter that throws a lot of crazy leather. Sadly I don't think we'll see much of him. Darchinyan - I never used to like him, but I've come full circle. Some of his pre-match hype cracks me up. His jerky awkward style is kinda sore on the eyes and he's way too over reliant on one punch...but every once in a while he is fun to watch. Still, I think Montiel has a good crack at him. Koki Kameda - Koki Kameda Not a huge fan of flyweight, but Gonzalez looks the real deal.
