Interesting, for my part the interest came from my dad, listening to fights on our radio prob around 1964 ish, so my age then would have been 10, so quite a early age I suppose, then graduated to when I left school at 15 to work at Smithfield Meat mrkt, which was a work place that a lot of retired boxers would go to after the career was finished ( tbh you didnt need a lot brain power to carry a job there ) names like, Ron Barton, Freddie King, Stan Davis, Mickey Walker ( no not that one ) and a former champion Tommy Mcgovern, so I was in heaven. I suppose my interest really spiked with the early 70s and the boom of some ATG in our sport, ie: Duran, Napoles, Olivares, Monzon, Foster, and of course the great one himself Ali.
So I consider my self very fortunate to have had these greats fighting while I was at my most keenest, plus the above are really in everyone's top 4/5 of all time, No 1 in some cases.
Got married in early 80s had kids fairly soon, so there was other things to deal with, boxing took a back seat, only a few fighters after that did I really care to follow, Hagler, Hearns, Saad, Pryor, Argulleo, to name a few, still book the odd fight to watch on PPV but not for many, leave it to the younger gen to carry the banner.

I'd say Froch v Jermain Taylor ticks the box

That was a pretty even fight most of the way, though an incredibly tough one.

I reckon it qualifies pretty well for the thread myself.

This my scorecard from that fight:
    Basilio v DeMarco 2
    1 9-10
    2 9-10
    3 10-9 (close)
    4 9-10
    5 9-10
    6 9-10 (close)
7 9-10 (huge moment as Basilio is badly wobbled)
    8 9-10
    9 10-9
10 10-9 (Basilio is turning the tide)
    11 10-9
    (103-106; 7 rounds to 4 DeMarco)
    12 Basilio TKO DeMarco

So, Basilio lost 7 of the first 8 rounds, took a pasting in the 5th and 7th and came on from the 9th to turn it round.

Larry was not behind. He was up and it was reasonable close. Rewatched and recently scored it recently.

It was about Weaver not being expected to be more than a soft touch and rocking Larry a few times and being competitive, but he was hardly running away with the fight on the way to a sure win.

So Basilio lost most of the rounds, but you must admit most of the rounds were very close.
