What is your preferred method of countering a jab?

I've fallen in love with slipping and coming under with an uppercut. It's not very atypical, so it catches most off guard, and it sets me up to pivot to the right and split their guard with a left hook.

Underneath with a straight left, outside with a right jab.

    just throw a good hook

  6. thats ****ed .

anyway, throw the jab back obviously. depends who your fighting but if the guy throwing stiff lefts at you I love timing a slip then a 1-2 to the body and exit out the side.

Being a southpaw, a nice right hook is a favorite of mine.

Slipping and countering with a right uppercut followed by a left hook is my favorite way to do it, but its a bit harder and you risk getting nailed if he hooks off the jab.

No 'favorite counter', You have to take the angle you are at when he misses You in consideration. You can slip a jab to the outside of him by using headmovent and comming from angles( the right hook to the body is usually the most open shot[then ofcourse finish Your combo after You connect. Or if You slip to the inside(leaving his body position "square" with You while his jab arm is still comming back You can catch him with numerous effective punches [Straight Right can throw him even more off balance and out of position for another shot, right uppercut 2 chin, left hook may be open, right hook to the body is always there though if both are orthodox. Its endless!

I'm exactly the same mate. slip it then uppercut to the body, though i like to dip and throw a hook next and its always worked pretty well for me.

My favorite, maybe not the most effective however, is catching my opponents jab with my right then throwing a quick straight right hand right after.

Slip to the right and counter with an uppercut and left hook. Slip to the left and counter with a left uppercut and a right hand, a bit risky but as long as your guard is ok it can be done. Duck and jab to the stomach, of course followed by something else. Parry and throw the right hand if he jabs lazy. And then some. I like em all to be honest, whatever I can land.
