Liked Gman until I read about his animal cruelty exploits, took the shine off him and I cant stand him now.

Watched Hameds early fights on ESPN the other week, we were in stiches, he was so funny doing flips around the ring and stupid walks before and after the contest. Thought he was cool, but looked a right whopper.

mike tyson - watching his fights as a kid got me into boxing. went off him after the ear biting incident though.

nigel benn - loved benn and hated eubank. :yep

ricky hatton - my all time favourite. always testing his opponent for 3 minutes of every rd. always gives 110%.

marco antonio barrera - his last few fights were sad viewing really. just looking to steal points on his boxing. but before that he was a great mix of brawler and clever punch picker. :bbb

Yeah i've read that Observer article about the labrador with a taped up mouth and the flamingoes he used to drive into etc.
A cruel man he was alright.
Hamed was so immature when you look back now - he was like the kid getting thrown out of class who would burp or fart as he was getting thrown out of class - to get that one last laugh from the other kids

i'm 40 so probably like yourself the BBC in the late seventies and early eighties. I remember falling asleep during sportsnight almost every week mind. ****ing knackered i was.

i didn't really get into boxing seriously until mid to late eighties and even then preferred the amateurs.

As for pro's well i always admired Hagler, Benn, Scott Harrison, thaxton (who i've followed since he hammered paul ryan) and i've always hated heayweights. I haven't really followed seriously for a few years now.

Danny Green fought for his WBA title 2 minutes from my house here in perth a few weeks ago. i could have had a free ticket but couldn't be ****ed going.

I liked Perth - Northbridge i remember quite well . Fremantle was alright too.
I remember Paul 'scrap iron' Ryan's ring entrances with his flat cap on :| The young fellas are all wearing them round my way now - look right idiots .

I'm gutted about Hamed. I was a huge fan (not least because I took money off a lot of welsh lads when he destroyed Robinson), bought the videos, laughed at his bull**** and generally excused the twatty behaviour because he was "doing the business". The cracks started to appear as early as the Kelley fight I suppose, but I was in denial about it. When he finally got his arse kicked by Barrera (another of my favourites and will remain so) I swore up and down that Hamed would win a rematch as it was the kick in teh arse he needed to get back on teh straight and narrow and train properly. The I saw that documentary "The Little Prince in the Big fight" and the rose tinted glasses fell right off. :patsch

The bloke is, and possibly always was a complete wanker. Subsequent behaviour has confirmed this, so it wasn't just a stitch up job by the documentary makers (not that it would ahve been hard).

It's not just his attitude that causes me to dislike him so strongly, it is that I still reckon he could have become an all time great if he had not been such a tosser convinced of his own infalibility and "God given" right to greatness. If he'd ahve trained better, listened and learned he could have been the legend he thought he was.

I am open to offers for my Autographed gloves (They're signed "MBE" but no discounts because he had that taken off him) :D
