Hearn was very gun hoe at the time. He was maybe too optimistic in regards to his fighters' at the time. I don't know what he was thinking, did he genuinely believe Brook had a chance of beating GGG? Cant have been just for the payday as Brook still had plenty of gas in the tank prior to that fight. It was a big risk that ended up in catastrophic failure.

Hearn was clueless back then, it wouldn’t surprise me if he thought Brook was up there with the best P4P when he made this fight. Laughable really and as you say it pretty much ruined his career.

Brook won his first inter-continental belt in 2010. Eleven wins and four years later he got a world title shot; that's perhaps the worst management of all time.

Kell Brook, not really sure why it took him so long to get a world title and think him and his team just wanted the Khan fight post Porter and then took a daft fight with GGG.

    Lawrence Okolie too.
Thought he would have been more a force. Not the nicest style but strong, awkward and tough to look good against.

Luke Campbell was one I thought would get to the very top.
Kevin Mitchell - anyone who wasn't world class he beat he just couldn't get over the finish line for a world title, lesser fighters than him have one.
Brook was ruined by poor match-making. Could have had multiple title fights.
I always thought Groves would do more at the world level.

Ryan Rhodes is another one, so much talent. You'd have expected him to have picked up a world title at some point.

I thought...still think actually, BJS might have been one of the most naturally gifted fighters this country has ever seen. I expected him to do more, I thought he'd beat Canelo. What do I know? He is a fairly reprehensible individual though, that much was always clear. Wasted talent?

100%, should have achieved much more, what a talent he was. The Lemeiux fight showed his potential. He just didn't have the discipline for regular training camps and living like a professional athlete.

There was no shame in you picking BJS to beat Canelo. In the Canelo fight he was really coming into it, winning rounds and looking comfortable in there, it was getting really interesting until he unfortunately suffered that eye injury,

If I remember correctly, they were trying to get Brook v Khan around that time and Khan pulled out.
So for some strange reason, probably relating to Hearns ego, he thought it'd be a good idea to stuck two fingers up at khan and give Brook and the British public what he thought was a bigger night.

I thought Eubank was in line to fight Golovkin on UK PPV and Hearn managed to get Brook in his place?

yeah he was, i still remember it so clearly, think it was a summers Friday night and i think Hearn had set a deadline for Friday 5pm for Eubank to sign, and i checked my phone that evening on Twitter and saw Hearn announcing Brook Vs GGG, i was 99.99% sure it was a Hearn parady account, so i clicked on it and was shocked that it was the real Hearn account, came out of no where, everyone was expecting Eubank GGG to be announced, he obviously got scared and out of no where Brook came in to fight, still the announcement that has shocked me most in my life in boxing, as it was literally out of no where, pretty sure Hearn said he sent Brook the same contract as Eubank that afternoon and he signed it, so there was no time for any rumours or anything, just out of the blue.
