As a fan The York Hall, London Before my time, I would have loved to have gone to a Luna Park defence for Monzon.
Madison Square Garden. And any massive crowd old school fight photo where the ring looks like a dot in the middle of the crowd.
York Hall, London. Iconic venue, holds about 2,000, close to the action, not a bad view from anywhere, a couple of decent pubs nearby. Lovely.
St. Nicholas Arena in NY, Marigold Garden in Chicago, Hollywood Legion in California. These were old-time venues which at one time or another were used almost exclusively for boxing and on a weekly basis. I doubt that you could beat a small fight club venue for atmosphere. But if you were a fan, you better take up smoking in self-defense!
I have heard they are not the best venue for live and in person fights but I always seem to love the added element of open air arenas with outdoor fights on TV.
Yeah I’d love to have gone to a fight in the temporary parking lot structure at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas where so many great fights were held in the Fab Four era (including, I believe, some heavyweight title tilts).
