some fellas on here love a specific fighter because they really like him personally as well as how talented he is, and then there are other guys like me who don’t care about liking the specific fighter, they just care about what fighters create the most exciting fights.
opps, I wasn’t finished this thread but hit the submit button!!!! To make matters worse, I gotta go now so maybe I will come back in a bit and recall the rest of what I was planning to say! I went to delete this but you can’t!!
For years I always confused Trevor Berbick and James Quick Tillis for some reason. Archie Moore, Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles always kind of blur in my mind. I still can't remember which one it was that Rocky knocked unconscious with that big overhand right. I think it was Jersey Joe, but I couldn't swear to that. When I was younger I used to think Razor Ruddock and Riddick Bowe were the same fighter. I think I may have even called Bowe Razor Riddick Bowe at some point.
in order for me to fully buy into a fighter and root for him (or her ) there is a two-step verification standard. the first wall of defense is: do i enjoy watching them fight? (or at the very least, am i not turned off by it) the second is: do i generally want him or her to win? (note: different from wanting the opponent to lose. can be for a combination of reasons, what they're like as human beings and/or fighters) i'm picky.
I walked in on my boss taking a dick pic on his phone. Was so awkward. I pretended that I didn't see but we both know damn well I did.
Ezzard went the distance with Rocky, getting stopped in the rematch. Moore lost to Charles 3 times and once to Rocky, by stoppage. Walcott is the one you thought he was, he also lost to Charles twice. Ezz is the best
I remember maybe a decade ago this guy in classic used to get on me for posting about how great the Tyson era was. Claiming I liked a ****** blah blah. I guess my point is, I feel that we as a forum still engage in this same type of attack off and on. Judging a guy for enjoying a fighter and praising a fighter that we don’t like personally? Is this a fair statement or is Latin talking out of his ass again???
I look at fighters like pit bulls in a pit, and I'm trying to find the best dog to breed out of. If he can fight he can fight, whether I like the color of his fur or his loving personality or not. It's about substance in the ring for me.
Yes exactly, I’m not focused on outside of the ring stuff at the point if the fist throwing, I’m focused only upon the fist throwing. The other stuff is a different discussion. A totally different discussion.
I would never trouble you guys for such a trivial comment. Plus it really didn’t make me feel that abused, lol, But I get you and thanks IB!!!
As a kid I figured if his name is willie (pep he got to be black...everybody black either got a willie for a grandaddy or an uncle! ) A black guy named Sandy?!
In the past, I will admit that I used to like and root for fighters by nationality (Mexican) but these, it's more about fighting style and not being a diva more than anything.
