At last a thread with no wrong answer!
I'm going to go for the late 60's to early 70's.
I think there were so many good fighters and such a variety of styles.

Quarry, Frazier, Ali, Ellis.A fearless slugger in Bonavena and the emergence of Foreman.

I just find those times and fighters really interesting. Which era do you guys like?

Agreed, I pretty much love late 50s all the way through 70s more than any other single era. I know it coul be considered 2,3, or even 4 eras, but I love the fighters from that stretch of time, I can't choose one individual point I like best.

I kind of preferred that 91--2002 era. The biggest drawback being so many terrific potential matches never being made. We were lucky to get 1 out of 3 fights that weren't pretty much a mismatch going in.

And we we had instead was top name guys fighting lots of #10-15 ranked guys instead. Beatable guy that was easy to hit got the fights a lot more than the who needs this guy for that amount of money type fighter.

But there was a ton of interesting fighters and included southpaws with pedigree and that was something never seen.

problem.is the main star, Tyson, wasn't what he was in the 80s, and he spent 4 years out of the game and Bowe didn't do much apart from th fight with Holyfield. The second tier were great too largely because they were inconsistent and unable to seem to put 2 good performances together.

Right. But what that does is to level the playing field. And me, I thought those long in the tooth guys never were a match for Tyson. Some folks did. Not me. I saw it as similar matchmaking as to what Holmes did earlier in the decade. Optimal selection process. The difference being the talent pool was shallower and Mike cleaned up that division in about a year and a half.

But the division at that time was susceptible to being diominated buy a guy.

For me,it'll always be the early/middle seventies. Ali,Frazier,Foreman,Norton etc.

This was the time I got seriously into boxing and feel glad to recall those times.

70's was good, but I'll take the 90's. In the 90's I watched some good fights or at least some fights I'll never forget for various reasons... maybe it was a a competitive slug fest, maybe a one-sided beat down, maybe somebody did something crazy?

Some of the better fights I remember, or some that were at least entertaining-

    Holyfield vs.

    Douglas
    Foreman
    Cooper
    Bowe I, II, III
    Moorer II
    Mercer
    Tyson I
    Lewis II

    Tyson vs.

    Douglas
    Ruddock I, II
    McNeeley
    Mathis
    Bruno
    Seldon
    Botha

    Lewis vs.

    Biggs
    Ruddock
    Bruno
    McCall I
    Morrison
    Mercer
    Golota
    Briggs

    Bowe vs.

    Tillery I
    Seldon
    Cooper
    Biggs
    Tubbs
    Coetzer
    Hide
    Gonzalez
    Golota I, II

    Foreman vs.

    Cooney
    Rodrigues
    Coetzer
    Stewart
    Morrison
    Moorer
    Schulz
    Savarese
    Briggs

    Holmes vs.

    Mercer
    McCall

    Tua vs.

    Ruiz
    Wilson
    Izon
    Maskaev
    Ibeabuchi
    Rahman I

    Morrison vs.

    Tillis
    Thomas
    Mercer
    Hipp
    Williams
    Ruddock

1966-1975, with the very peak of that era being the FOTC.

I doubt if we see that kind of era again.
