Let's say anything before 1980. My one would probably be Ezzard Charles, Sugar Ray Robinson, Kid Chocolate, Muhammad Ali, and Archie Moore.
Some of the guys with * did fight in the 80s but barely fought in that decade and are associated more with being 60s or 70s guys. Eder Jofre Carlos Zarate* Ruben Olivares* Luis Rodriguez Fighting Harada Ken Buchanan* Joe Frazier* Jose Medel Charles Burley Manuel Ortiz
Not counting anyone who had a fight in the 80s: Ezzard Charles Willie Pep Sonny Liston Johnny Bratton Kid Gavilan Jimmy Mclarnin Archie Moore Randolph Turpin Carmen Basilio Tony Canzoneri Floyd Patterson Max Schmeling Billy Graham Emile Griffith Joey Giardello Benny Leonard Barney Ross
Wow. I've heard of all these guys before but never really read up much about them. The ones I haven't heard about are Billy Graham and Manuel Ortiz.
Graham is one of the greatest fighters to never win a world title and I think Manuel Ortiz is the greatest Mexican-American fighter of all-time and a sure shot top five all-time bantam. The footage on him is great. He’s probably the greatest boxer ever to be born and raised in Southern California.
You've got a lot of good footage to look up. I recommend Graham - Gavilan 3. Cracking fight, and a very good watch to test your scoring capabilities (if so inclined).
To many to list, I absolutely love reading up on the fighters from the late 1800s to around the 1940s
Of guys I've actually seen film on: Cleaveland Williams Sonny Liston Marciano Benny Parret Oakland Billy Smith Of guys I've only heard stories about: Sam ******* Pancho Villa Jim Corbett Joe Chowinski
Ezzard Charles Kid Gavilan Ike Williams Archie Moore George Benton Joe Louis Jose Napoles Jose Torres Joe Frazier Alexis Arguello Funny is that i like how Ray Robinson moves but i hate how he breaks the rythm of the fight by clinching till break by the referee.
Harold Johnson Alexis Arguello Ken Buchanan Joe Frazier Tommy Loughran Joe Louis Jerry Quarry Floyd Patterson Eddie Machen
Max Schmeling Archie Moore Bob Fitzsimmons Joe Louis Sam Langford Tommy Loughran Henry Armstrong To name a few.
