Not which weight division is the greatest in terms of its history, just the division (or divisions) you most enjoy watching fights at.
Featherweight is my favorite, with Bantam running right there...and of course their surrounding basterd divisions
Heavyweight, because I'm a little boy at heart It has my favorite fighters, it was the first weight class I experienced, and it has some of the most historic/miracle moments in not just boxing but all of sports
Speaking solely of right now, 115-118 have a ton of great talent. For 115 that's a fairly new occurrence, something of a dead division at times. It's red hot right now though.
Not sure I have one, but really anything from 118-126. A good fight's a good fight though, it's not like I focus on only those divisions.
Oh, no doubt. Some of my favourite ever fights have happened in weight classes that I might not have naturally been drawn to.
The top heavyweights can beat the best boxers in all the other divisions. So what's not to like? All the others in the lower weights are afraid to fight guys who weigh-in even a couple pounds heavier than they are. It's always been difficult for me to brag about a boxer who is the "BEST FIGHTER between 112 and 118 pounds." It's like how many grown men weigh 112 pounds to begin with? And you can beat them up? Good for you. (I guess.)
Lol someone shouldve told John Ruiz that But I agree, the heavyweight division is the division with life. No weight classes on the streets. And everyone is a heavyweight, from a 70lbs man to a 700lbs man. Other weight divisions have limits, heavyweight has none, in both directions. Anyone can fight heavyweight
It's the Light-Heavyweights for me. I think 175 is a great weight for combining speed, power, agility, movement etc. But as well as that, I think my favourite little epoch of boxing history in terms of fights, styles, personalities etc was the 175 pounders from around 1974 to 1982/83. Essentially the period sandwiched in between the end of Foster's reign and Spinks cementing himself as top dog. Might seem strange preferring an era between two genuinely outstanding champions, but as I said, that mini-league of the three Muhammads, Galindez, Conteh and Johnson (plus a decent supporting cast) had everything. So much contrast between them in so many ways, and so many outstanding fights, sometimes against each other. A real Super Six. Galindez remains perhaps my favourite fighter of all time, and probably influences me in going with the 175 pounders.
