It's easier to point to someone like Joshua or Wilder and say that guy is best fighter in boxing. Those two could take on just about anyone on the planet and either win or do quite well. It was always much tougher to point to this guy and say he's the best fighter in boxing. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BswGOZSCIAAQ3ac.png I think some fans lose track of just how small some of these guys are because they just watch boxing on TV. On TV, fighters all tend to look the same size and fill the same amount of screen. And people rave about them. In person, many of them are incredibly small. And some of those tiny "best fighters" in the sport would likely get destroyed in a street fight by half the players on the high school football team in your town. It's kind of awkward.
Galindez is in my top 10 easily. He was the premier light heavyweight champion of the 2nd half of the 70's.
Heavyweights, mostly because it has the richest history both in terms of historical impact, and more importantly, in terms of having a tangible history. We can typically watch heavyweight championship fights going back more than a century and see the action with our own eyes. That's not the case if we go back far enough with the original 8. The film footage just isn't there, and that inherently makes the heavyweights the most interesting for me, regardless of historical impact.
I’m not sure. I go through phases sort of. I probably don’t have a favorite division or two or three. I have favorite eras and fighters and both are long lists.
I don't really have a division that I favor over all others. I just want to see good fights - wherever they may take place. I have to say, though, that at the moment I'm getting a little bit excited about the heavyweights! Wilder, Fury, Joshua - with maybe Miller waiting in the wings, and Usyk hopefully moving up. Lots of interesting fights ahead... if they can be made!
