Paying bondsmen, paying lawyers, paying doctors, paying x-ray technicians, paying fines, fighting can be pretty expensive. Self defense is one thing but I would ignore some moron talking **** besides those guys are usually only brave when they have you outnumbered. You risk breaking your hand, infecting your hand and getting blood poisoning ( one of my friends had seem teeth lodged in his knuckles and had to be put on IV antibiotics ) and also you run the risk of being sued.
Yeah, in a street fight you never know what can happen. You might be able to beat the one guy your in a fight with, but then his 5 friends might jump in or they might use weapons. It's not worth the risk.
I am always REALLY nervous, even before sparring some-one I can't beat but I do it anyway, that's called heart.
I think its the adrenaline. When youre in a heated arguement with someone and you know it could get physical then youre producing a lot of adrenaline because youre body is getting ready to go. If youre not used to that, which Im not, then it can give you a wierd feeling.
Iv no fear as such if i see trouble , i get an adrenaline rush , however i dont act on it. Say you hit the guy take him out in one punch in a club or pub or summit , go the bathroom to get cleaned up then whack you get a glass bottle to the head. End up in hospital. This happened to my mate the other week at a club we always go to. Fist fights aint just fist fights anymore (where i live anyways). knife crime is huge here in england now and statistics show that gun crime isnt far off of america even though our population is lower. At the moment theres a shooting in the papers every week on average. Plus just cos you know u can take the guy out dont mean you have to. But i think its a hard balance keeping your pride in attack , if we bow down to these knife carrying ****ers then theyve won. But also its alot to risk! Plus dont even get me started on the law , youd probably end up in court these days even when you dont start trouble
I found out this one guy who was in my boxing club back in the early 80s suffered a brain injury during a streetfighting brawl. Apparently he thought somebody stole his cache of dope, went over to the guy's house, caught the guy sitting on his elevated porch and he tried to climb over the railing to get the guy. The suspected thief punched him square in the chin when he was on the top rail and sent him hard to the pavement. He landed on his head and was in a coma for a while. Supposedly he doesn't have a short term memory anymore and he developed some kind of speach impediment.
Yeah always talk someone down if you can. Try to stay out of a fight is the best way not to get into one.
I try to avoid street fights, but if I have to fight... or really WANT to... I will. The only time I really, really wanted to get away, was when I was at a pub with just one mate, and I saw a guy I had previously bashed over my then current girlfriend. He was with 4 or 5 guys, and when we left, they followed. I really just wanted to run, I was scared shitless... because one of his mates was renowned for taking his fights too far, usually drawing weapons. He ran up and pushed me into a car, I turned and cracked him with a left hand, then ran like hell. Yes, I felt like a *****.
Leave fighting in the ring. Too many people get into fistfights over dumb ****. It's all that macho male postering bull****; you don't need to worry about people who act like that.
Guys try to find the John Scully article about boxing and street fighting. Hellfire it is better that you hit and ran than to stay there and let his friends send you to the hospital.
You felt like a ***** for defending yourself then running from 5 other guys? Running was the smart option, that or stay there and get your head kicked in.
