What, the fight where Augustus flops down in the last round without anything landing?

He quit. He was taking hometown refferee bull**** all night, among other inconceniances. He wanted out of there.

I agree. Griffith decked him with a short, hard right that put Tiger down for a 2 count, and he staggered him again after that. Most of Griffith's punches aside from that one were rather light but clean. Very weird sport.

Emile Griffith could bang. Let's no forgot what he tragically did to Benny Paret.

    i agree:hey
the knockout was very bizarre, here is augustus, who took the shots of teddy reid and kelson pinto, just go down by a very ordinary looking flurry of punches.

    Billy Conn staggering Joe Louis
Pernell WHittaker hurting Chavez with a body shot
Juan Diaz might not have an Iron chin but he has a decent one it was intresting to see Paulie Rock him in the 2nd fight
Camacho 1punching Durable John Montes in the 1st round
Willie Pastrano stopping Gregorio Peralta(although on a cut) and Peralta went the distance with a young George Foreman giving him all he wanted.
Bonavena being kod and dropped 3 times by Average punching Ali.

Yeah, Ali had very good power when he put his weight into a punch.

Punching power is just (P = speed + strength + technique) and he certainly had sufficient speed and strength. He just often chose to use arm-punching points-scoring technique.

Yeah, but it takes a certain degree of POWER to hurt someone like that with body shots.

All it takes is one punch. It requires a certain amount of power to an extent to hurt someone but the right shot at the right place & time is all u need. Ali hit harder than y'all think by no means was he a KO puncher but the man had some power.

With many of the supposed featherfists it's not about them having no power but them not using it due to their style. But they could turn it on when they had to. Whitaker against Hurtado or Ottke against Mundine for example.

OR Whittaker against Nazario and Lomeli.

How about Benitez when he brutally knocked out Maurice Hope.

Ron Lipton told me that Joey Archer once really badly staggered Dick Tiger and nearly knocked him out in their bout.
