Same deal as with the heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, and lightweight divisions. I will keep this one going until Januar 19 (give or take, but make that the tentative deadline for now).

    Scoring system is as follows:

25 points for your #1 guy
    15 for #2
    12 for #3
    10 for #4
    8 for #5
    5 for #6
    4 for #7
    3 for #8
    2 for #9
    1 for #10

    * Please make a list of TEN FIGHTERS.

    * NO TIES!
    * If you make a List of MORE or LESS than 10, your list will NOT COUNT
    * Please include fighter's full name

Anyway, to kick it off, here's what I came up with:

Very tough. I know I might be accused of over rating Attel and I know that having him above Driscoll will be problematic for some, but I think his overall depth of work is better. So hence the rating. Armstrong, based upon what he actually did, might be overated here, but who, on this list, beats him at his featherweight best?

This is where it gets hard. My knowledge of boxing gets a little thin when it gets below the Lightweights. I think I shall have to do a little research to give a top 10.

I know in a H2H sense Armstrong would be number 1 but did he really do enough at the weight to be ranked above Pep and Saddler ?

There are plenty of guys who could rank above Armstrong based upon who they beat at the weight. The question is, which of those guys do you pick to beat Armstrong at the weight? Skills on film should count for something, getting the balance right is very tough, but my personal opinion is that Armstrong at #1 can be defended.

Fair enough, as I said before my knowledge of the Featherweight division is fairly limited. I still think I'd have Armstrong below Pep and Saddler though.

Well, he unified a fragmented title, and decisively beat some quality opposition like Baby Arizmendi (HOFer), Midget Wolgast (HOFer), Petey Sarron (conqueror of Freddie Miller), and Mike Belloise. He also crushed future champ Chalkey Wright (HOFer), who is probably Pep's biggest win at the weight after Saddler, and also ex-champ Benny Bass (HOFer). Neither Sarron nor Bass were ever counted out in their long careers except against Armstrong. His accomplishments as a FW are very impressive, but often overlooked because they're overshadowed by his extraordinary achievements at higher weights.

I do agree his Featherweight accomplishments get overlooked as he was so dominant in the higher weight classes.
