funny thing is, the gyms i used to train at had a lot of tradesmen a couple of whom were amateur bodybuilders. according to your puny brain, they must be tipping bricks over like your brain tips out information. and do't give me this bull**** about a flyweight or even heavyweight boxer who's never pushed a barrow of bricks easily manoeuvreing it through unsteady ground while a bodybuilder can't. i've seen ALL forms of people struggle with that ****. btw, i don't do bodybuilding workouts. though incorporate some of that, just like a lot of pro boxers of all classes. bodybuilders have at least added to exercise science knowledge. but hey, you're **** for brains, so keep on hatin'.
Primo Carnera was a circus strong man before boxing, and had one of the better physiques especially for his era.Heard ready a story about Sullivan picking up a loaded freight wagon, they same about Jess Willard saving a guys life by picking up trmendous amount of weight off of him.Jose Urtain, the late former European heavyweight champion, was a stone lifter.
Just because you have skinny legs doesn't mean that they are not strong. The leg muscles need the right combination of strength and flexibility to develop the power in a punch. Yes,Farmer Burns also trained Frank Gotch, one of the greatest legitimate wrestlers in American history. I think wrestling might gave been more popular than boxing in America for the period during Jack Johnson's dominance. A bit like the ascendance of MMA today.
I've heard some stories about Willard and feats of strength but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Anyone have any? I know he broke a mans neck with an uppercut.
