    Round 9

Chudinov is walking Maderna down, jabbing him in the face, leaving the left arm sort of half extended and then swizzle-sticking Maderna's own left away if Maderna tries summoning up a counter jab. Chudinov is reaching past the Maderna 1-2 at range with a quickened step, knocking his neck open like a Pez dispenser with an overhand right, and otherwise pelting the body with straights & hooks while Maderna hoists up his elbows to his nips and circles away.

    10-9 Chudinov

    89-82 Chudinov

If that is his trainer, Maderna needs to fire her ASAP. Not because she's a woman, but the advice is just a terrible unhelpful monotony of "duro!!" and "vamos!"" (which is basically, "let's go" and "be tough")

    Round 10

Chudinov is winging in body shots, batting Maderna from one end of the ring to another like a kitten with a ball of string. Madnera has run short on ideas of how to deal with Chudinov's aggressive, low-center-of-gravity attack. Maderna no longer even attempting to hold, and can't bring the guard up reliably anymore. He takes a knee from a body shot (at least it was aimed downstairs, quick lead right uppercut, might actually have bopped him in his teeth as he was leaning forward). Ref waves it off.

    TKO10!

Not that it was a bad contest, but it was pretty one-sided and I had already done enough one-sides RBRs this morning so I’m a bit glad I didn’t have to do that one

Maderna was fighting on a (very?) short notice. He did well for that.

Fedor still is what he is, nothing extraordinarily special, but still just about world class...and by now I think we can say the jury is 100% in: he's the white sheep of the family (at least in terms of the pro game).

    Fedor >>>>>>>>>> Dmitrii, p4p.

Yeah, even that one round I gave Maderna was very shaky. Could easily argue the narrative that he was shutout (with many of the rounds "10-9 with a bullet") and then made to quit.

Funny thing is that I used to believe just the opposite, because Night Wolf has more "wrinkles" in his game than does The Classic. Around circa 2014 when both were unbeaten (Fedor 12-0 with ten knockouts & Dmitrii 14-0-2 with nine), he seemed the more dynamic fighter and despite the lower stoppage rate was bagging the more splashy and eye-catching stoppages when he got them.

Fast-forward half a decade, and yeah - it turns out that being sort of 'basic', provided you do it well, is better than being unique but not having as much discipline and cohesiveness to your game. Fedor has the far better record in terms of quality opposition beaten, and has the waaaaaay better KO percentage (65 to 43...and even filtering out all of Dmitrii's losses and draws and extrapolating just from their wins, Fedor still has 71 to his older brother's 61...)

Maderna, by the way, came in not even ranked top 15 by the WBA... so this was presumably a voluntary defense by Chudinov. That means next he will likely have to face somebody that is top 15...meaning:

    4. Peter Enrique Quillin
    5. Vincent Feigenbutz
    6. Aidos Yerbossynuly
    7. Cem Kılıç
    8. David Lemieux
    9. Zac Dunn
    10. Erik Bazinyan
    11. Mickaël Diallo
    12. Rocky Fielding
    13. Bilal Akkawy
    14. Julio Alamos Mumbru
    15. Vladimir Igorevich Shishkin

Perhaps a better contrast (than Beterbiev with his Mack truck punching) would be with Uzcátegui, whom a very recent version of Maderna brought ten, with zero knockdowns..
