In the interview where Fedor said that he would be stuck in his UFC contract, unless he lost, he also said he never talked to Dana White at all and wasn't really involved in any negotiations personally.

Thats pretty crazy, he let Finkelstein do everything for him, how do we know Finkelstein wasn't misleading Fedor?
The contract that Fedor said was offered to him is something no fighter in the history of MMA has been asked to sign, Not Crocop, Not Liddell, Not Nog, Not Couture, Not no one. Infact I think it might not even be legal under US law. The demands were unpreccedented.

If Fedor says he had no contract with the UFC representatives and he was offered an extremely unfair contract that makes me think, maybe Finklestein was misleading Fedor into not signing with the UFC.

Perhaps, I have had such ideas. It's a toss up between trusting Finkelstein and White. The way Fedor said it though, "If you only saw the contract..." led me to believe that he actually SAW the contract but perhaps wasn't present at negotiations. Thats why I was leaning towards trusting Finkle. But you really never know with those stinking businessmen. In the end the viewer suffered. Dunno if Fedor suffered really, i can only speculate that HE is better off fighting with M1 because he can fight anywhere with anyone. The bad thing is that UFC is not gona let him fight its fighters which kinda kills it for us.

How do these contracts work in MMA? Is it based on number of fights or number of years? Cant a UFC fighter fight outside the UFC once and after honor his contract?

Yes thats how it works, the standard deal for most orgs is a 4-6 fight deal over 2 years.
Of course a fighter can fight another fighter in another org when his current contract runs out.

Randy just did a very stupid move and tried to get out of his contract half way through and now he's a screwed.

The only indisputable fact that we do know is that the current UFC heavyweight champion is trying to run away from UFC as fast as he can.

That's a fact - anything else is speculation.

Why would Fedor want to jump into a position that he knows for a fact to be an unpleasant one?

P.S. Duke - get the version of your avatar I have posted for you. Great man desrves a better quality picture.

Whatever, Fedor has become almost a joke in the MMA world lately and you know it.....and the future for him isn't getting any brighter...he should just retir with his legacy and quit the circus act. He is getting **** on from other fighters...orgs...and anybody else that has half a brain and sees what he is doing latley. And the worst part is ..it's only going to get worse....Who is his next fight going to be against? honestly...his management won't let him fight anybody with a pulse and that's the truth.

That's not what the UFC heavyweight champion thinks. And that's apparently not what people in Russia think. And why Fedor would give a flying **** about what some UFC fanboys and fighters and promoter who are paid to stir **** up are saying?

I kind of like my low-res one, it makes him look angrier and meaner.

Truth is i don't think Fedor has a clue what is going on...Finkel**** tells Fedor everything and Fedor basically does whatever he says. Do you really think signing with m1 was better for Fedor or Finkel****....I can almost guarantee it was because Finkel can make more money in m1 not Fedor.

Is not that the case for pretty much every athlete? Very few can handle money/contract issues by themselves.

I bet Couture could fill Fedor in on Dana W. when they met just recently.
