Hendo fight was a pretty big fluke tbh. Hendo was dropped hard. It would be very very interesting to see how Jones would attack him on the ground given Fedors grappling prowsess. In a stand up war Fedor would have a great chance to test his chin.
I think old school Fedor was always dangerous as he went for the finish and was happy to stand or grapple. Usually opponents couldn't deal with both together. This Fedor gets taken down and GnP. He isn't as sharp and doesn't seem to have the same power he once did as a result.
It's shocking how short peoples memories are. 2 of Fedor's 3 losses came after he hurt his guy and just got sloppy. It was a lack of concentration and poise, something he didn't have a problem with when he was fully motivated and in his prime. The other loss came against a huge fighter, in a fight that was stopped....but stopped in between rounds, when the final round ended with Fedor attempting a submission. This is a hard question because Fedor has NEVER fought at 205, and Jones has NEVER fought anyone over 205.
They aren't comparable in terms of professionalism, work ethic and motivation. Fedor was at the top of his game and the sport for like a decade. BJ has always gone up and down. BJ is in a league of his own in terms of coming up short of his potential. Fedor is more comparable to Tyson I think. He got to a point where I think he just started going through the motions and expecting the same results to happen, and not wanting to work hard for the results anymore.
Jones has a good top game to open Fedor up with cuts. How he deals with getting him there and Fedors submission strength and counter strking speed and power is the issue here
I'd personally pick Jones at 205 because he has many more advantages, ie speed, reach, etc. and Fedor wouldn't have the strength he normally has, but if it was a heavyweight fight, I'd pick Fedor.
