Why is it that zuffa zombies all kept saying "Fedor has to beat this heavyweight and that heavyweight to be the #1 fighter", but Brock only had to beat Shane Carwin and now the UFC drones are calling him "the baddest man on the planet"?:rofl:rofl (UFC made thier commentators pimp this term like 30 times saturday night) Wow, where are the zuffa zombies cries for Brock to beat Dos santos, and Cain? Why isn't Brock held to the same standards by the nutsuckers? Why aren't they calling him a coward for not signing with strikeforce and fighting Werdum and overreem? Fedor for that matter. So what gives zuffa zombies?:think
Both Fedor nuthuggers and Brock nuthuggers do a disservice to Overeem and Barnett by excluding them from the conversation. :deal
Lesnar is not going to make it through the Velazquez and Dos Santos gauntlet without losing. One of them will beat him.
What Brock has done in 6 fights is incredible. Everyone considers Fedor number 1 minus the fact that he hasn't fought the absolute best of the best in the past 5 years.
Im not a fan of Lesnar or Fedor. So many trolls and arguments I have just lost interest in the fighters themselves.
WTF, and Brock has? Couture + Mir, yea, ok buddy. I'll give him credit for Carwin, he won, at the same time he basically got ***** slapped around the first round.
Fedor, Overeem and Josh are not joke, these three are the top fighters. Brock on the otherhand shouldnt be in the top 10, he made it there simply because of the Zuffa hype. Brocks standup is amaturish and his wrestling was easily countered by Carwin. A wrestler like King Mo even thinks that Lashley is better than Brock (after his 116 showing).
Like I said, what Brock has done in 6 fights is awesome. Top 10 contender, current champ, former champ x2 and number 1 contender. The guy already has 2 defences under his belt and he has had 6 fights. ***** slapped, its not like Fedors had his moments of adversity versus Rogers, Arona, CroCop, Hunt etc They overcome them, thats what champs do. Ironically, despite the rivalry between Brock and Fedor, their only really loss amounts to making one mistake and getting subbed quickly despite both being destined for GnP wins.
Management problems and organizational differences or not, Fedor stopped proving himself against the best in 2006. Fedor has been staying active against decent names, which was enough to stay atop of the sport until he lost. Fedor was on top of my heavyweight list until a couple weeks ago. I still believe Fedor is the best heavyweight all time, as well as the sport's p4p greatest ever. Let's examine the past few years. Since 2006; Fedor has defeated Linland, Choi, Sylvia, Arlovski, Sylvia, and Rogers. Linland- not a heavyweight Choi- 2nd rate Sapp Arlovski- Good win. Sylvia bested him 2 of 3. Sylvia- Good win at the time. Had previously been schooled by Couture and subbed by Nogueira Rogers- Question mark still out there on this guy. His only losses are to Fedor and Overeem. It could be a lot worse. Lesnar opponents since losing to Mir Herring- Had just defeated Congo. Congo had defeated Cro Cop. Herring had lost to Nogueira. Couture- Had defeated Sylvia before Fedor did. Also defeated Gonzaga coming off a shocking win over Cro Cop. Mir- Avenges his only loss. Mir was coming off a win over Nogueira. Nogueria had defeated Tim Sylvia(before Fedor did) and Heath Herring. Carwin- Was 12-0. Had slaughtered Mir, who was coming off a quick submission of Congo. The thing is, you could still keep saying Fedor was the best if he hadn't done what he did the week before Lesnar and Carwin. Fedor lost to Werdum. Werdum has lost to Dos Santos and Arlovski. Lesnar is on top of the heavyweight division right now. If Lesnar loses his next fight, he will drop a few notches in the scheme of things.
Well ok, lets talk about it. I try to show you another point of view based solely on facts and the perspective at the fight: - Linland: former silver olympic medalist (wrestling), 6'0" (exact the same height as Fedor), weigted in at 212.5 lbs (only about 15 pounds less than the "flabby" Fedor - muscle mass was probably about the same) Result: submission, 1st round - Choi: a 7'2", 352lbs behemoth who was not bad at K1 (probably the weakest opponent of this list, but a hard fight for anyone) Result: submission, 1st round - Arlovski: former UFC champion, at the time of the fight ranked #2 heavyweight by Sherdog coming off some good wins Result: KO, 1st round - Sylvia: former UFC champion, at the time of the fight ranked #4 heavyweight by Sherdog Result: submission, 1st round (fight lasted about 30 sec) - Rogers: unbeaten, destroyed Arlovski in 20 sec in a fight prior to Fedor, at the time of the fight ranked #6 heavyweight by Sherdog Result: KO, 2nd round - scheduled fight with Barnett, which did not happen: Barnett was at that time arguably the second best heavyweight after Fedor This list does not look shabby at all in this light, isn't it? Just by stats you could even argue that Fedor cleaned out the division in a dominant way! But I know, people will always complain.... especially "haters"...
This right here. When Fedor beat Arlovski and Sylvia they were top 10 contenders. Them being Former UFC Champs is just a sort of rub in considering how violently they were both dispatched. Brock has a ton of potential but is still largely a very rough around the edges talent who came into the sport kind of late. Nobody can deny his wrestling or his gnp, but it's really a glaring fault when everything about him other than his strengths are, well borderline terrible. He improves his striking and makes leaps and bound from his turtle defense, I will become a fan. Right now, I see him as a WWE meathead. Bring on Kurt Angle or Stone Cold, give them two or three fights before they get a shot at the title, and should they win - baddest man on the planet? I think that title belongs to someone in the Military somewhere, someone nobody knows about who is actually a bad ass mother****er. The title baddest man on the planet is rediculous in the first place.
I agree Fedor has overcome adversity in these opponents. The one thing he never did is cover up in the fetal position like Brock did. Brock got a gift. Any other UFC fight would have been stopped. And i can honestly say, Fedor would not have bitched up and took those Carwin shots. In that position against Rogers, he moved his head on the ground and went for the kill. He did'nt get it but it did free him from that position. That is experience verses hype played out before your eyes.:deal
