He has done a lot for the sport in Russia, he gets to carry the torch. It's not indication of anything other than Fedor being recognized as someone who has done a good share for the sport. MMA is very young in Russia though it's growing really fast. I doubt many people recognized who he was. Many of my friends just know that there's this Russia guy who dominates this new sport...
