So your saying it would be better for Lesnar,carwin,Cain,Dos Santos and Fedor to be in all different orgs not fighting each other but beating less worthy opponents? Sports is different then business so don't pretend this is the same as walmart.

Do you want Tiger and Mickelson in different orgs. Why don't you complain the PGA has a monopoly.

Yeah maybe Dana should take a page out of Sakakibara's playbook and trap Finklestein in a room full of Yakuza and then maybe he can sign Fedor.

 

I've only been following MMA for about a year and a half, and pretty much every statement regarding Fedor from Dana...Dana does come off a bitter business man.

yea strikeforce has some good heavyweights anyways. I want to see fedor vs overeem soon. The only fight i really want to see fedor in the ufc is against brock lesnar. But he doesn't need the UFC just like Sting didn't need WWF.

 

I guess I just assume people have the ability to take into consideration the views from multiple angles, but my assumptions are generally wrong when it comes to the ability of other people.

You seem to have the perspective of someone like Dana White, or perhaps a fan in a mob of the stereotypical, "Ugly American" fan. Try looking at the organization as a fighter. Not a great fighter, but a good fighter. Then take a look at the situation from the perspective of Fedor. Then consider what it would be like to fight in the different ambiances, and hopefully some things should come to light for you, if you remember to imagine being the one booed on your way up to the stage, vs. the prospects of both you and your opponent being cheered and genuinely appreciated, respected..

Maybe, if you are as human, and as intelligent as I give you credit for, you might see things differently. You need to stop looking at things purely from a fans, or promoters perspective. Look at it from the fighters perspective.

 

The NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA all have teams owned by DIFFERENT people. You can't use that to make a point about having 1 MMA org.

I agree with you. But what's even wrong with Lesnar vs Carwin. They are both quite respectful athletes. And I say they both have a decent chance against Fedor because they are so powerful.

 

The NBA etc are leagues with INDEPENDANT FRANCHISES's that within that business model do what is best for their FRANCHISE but obey a unified ruleset imposed by the league in terms of their overall governance. The example is crap, not relavent and has no bearing on fighters who are individual entitys and economically responsible for themself.

If another MMA promotion popped up tommorow that offered fighters twice the purse they'd get in the UFC the UFC fighters would defect. This is the main reason why all the best talent from the early UFC's went to PRIDE. The only reason why Dana gets away with what he does is because the UFC were the last man standing and the only option currently. They have no real opposition other than SF and are now the most liquid of all the MMA organisations. Its simple maths that doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out. All the comparison with established leagues are simply lame. The UFC is not a league its a franchise. It doesnt have a players union. And it certainly doesnt have a mechanism to ensure fighters welfare as does the Muhammed Ali Act in boxing.

 

PRIDE and HERO's came to the US on a number of occasions. They had bigger audiences than the UFC.

 

Theres nothing wrong with Carwin Lesnar. But lets be very succinct here. When Fedor was busy beating up ATG's in PRIDE Lesnar was in the WWE. As for Carwin his career hadnt even begun yet.
The travesty with some US fans is this blinkered approach to MMA where they know nothing outside of the UFC. Fedor is a proven and KNOWN quantity who is the equivalent of MMA's Ali. Carwin and Lesnar are just two very good contenders nothing more or less. Fedor does not need to prove anything against either of them. His legend is already written. Deal with it.

 

Yes he doesn't need them at all. But I wouldn't be too surprised if they both beat em. Just sayin'

 

Interesting logic. No one has beaten Fedor yet in a long and storied career. But two rookies in MMA stand a chance based on what? Vince McMahon syndrome? Nah il pass on the good ****.
