That is what I was saying. All the other sports are NOT set up like MMA. Someone was saying monopolies in sports are good but its a bad comparision to make.

 

Of course you can always nitpick at examples but your missing the point. Explain to me why having one org with all the top talent could be a bad thing.

 

WTF are you on about now Nuke? Scurla cited K1/Pride US attendance numbers like they indicated anything more than that these companies had to give a **** load of tickets away to fill seats.

 

I must have been imagined all those heads at Saitama arena. Should have figured they were actually "tickets" disguised as Japanese MMA fans.

 

Mate the UFC doesnt even observe the Ali act. Matter of fact they lobbied against it. Is that in the interest of the fighter? Of course not. But hey monopolys are good for MMA right?!!

 

A league might be fine, but then the participants should be free to have their own agents and unionize if they want. And I don't say this flippantly because I generally dispise unions. But I dispise monopolize even more. The fact that the UFC can simply disgard any fighter it has a problem with and offer take it or leave it contracts and has final approval on any sponsers a fighter choses to associate themselves with tells me this arrangement might works fine for fans and the UFC owners, but it doesn't seem all that equitable for the fighters. It's safe to say the top fighters of the UFC are making pennies on the dollar compared to the Pacquiao and Mayweather's of boxing, even though the revenues generated might be comparable.

Dude you're so delusional. Or not very bright. So what if they had a bigger attendance in the US? Probably half that attendance was because of the UFC's popularity in the US anyways. That's number 1. Number 2, wait a minute, wasn't that their last pride event??? Sorry, they were not carrying MMA on their shoulders the way UFC did. Don't get me wrong, I'm still just as butthurt as you pride is gone, and the UFC sucks donkey balls compared to it, and that's shitty. But you have to give credit where it is due my friend. I mean didnt Randy have contract problems in the past with Dana.

The UFC might be the biggest and best but from everything i read is that Dana treats his fighters like **** and pays them **** all.

 

Championships clause:
1) i.e. Fedor signs for 3 fights, wins the belt on his third fight. The contract isnt finished after the three fights. Fedor would have to continue fighting UNTIL he retires from combat sport (MMA, Judo and Sambo) or looses his belt (this is what happened to Randy).

2) i.e. Fedor signs for 3 fights. Fedor lost or performed poorly in his first fight, the UFC can tear Fedor's contract and doesnt need to give him the remaining two fights. The UFC can also decrease Fedor's pay to whatever it deems appropriate.

As for M1 being greedy, M1 gave Fedor 20% ownership mof the company. Dana and the UFC would NEVER do this to any of their fighters. Rampage Jackson has recently talked about the UFC being greedy and not allowing its fighters to earn money (through sponsorships, games etc).
