Im gonna go back on what i said here because thinking of Dan fighting Silva , Barnett or Werdum is just ****in daft :deal
Was Fedor vs Hendo not exciting? You will refuse to watch Fedor fight from now on but are ok with Cro Cop and Big Nog in the UFC? Fedor gets one win and he can have PPV fights against Brock, Couture, Mir etc and then if he wins that they have another contender. I'm not sure how you can even begin to justify Overeem from not being allowed to compete against JDS and Velasquez.
Yeah, you're an alright bloke, as well. But, you're right, you'll probably despise me as soon as I expose another Glass Jawed Joke! Give me credit, however, I only call Glass Jaw when I honestly believe that a fighter is harboring one. I don't have favorite fighters because I'm not a child in search of heroes and idols. I'm simply entertained by watching alpha males beat the **** out of one another. Lost in exciting fashion? So Wanderlei should still be considered quality because it was exciting when Leben shattered his Fragile Mandible and left him crawling around the ring looking for his synapses? That's the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever read and I've read all the major religious texts, so that's saying something. Fedor is no longer quality. His punch resistance appears to have dissipated considerably and he's been dominated in his last three, therefore I have no interest in seeing him compete against the UFC's young guns. Three years ago? Absolutely and he would have made some quality fights then, but now he's going to serve as nothing more than a punching bag if you put him in with legitimate fighters. Overeem? Sure, I'd love to see him against Cain and Dos Santos, but I can live without because he still hasn't proven that he's a top tier MMA HW and he's making demands that, if caved to, could rattle the foundation of the UFC's business model. I'll take a stable business that refuses to play games with demanding fighters thereby preserving a one-title league where all the best and relevant fighters are forced to compete over a few good fights that could be made by blowing Golden Glory.
I don't understand why Daniel Cormier (fanbase=zero) was chosen ahead of Fedor or even Werdum to be Overeem's replacement in the tournament. I don't understand why Fedor would be cut from Zuffa after turning in strong ppv numbers for his fights with Bigfoot and Hendo. I don't understand why the UFC don't even want to test the waters to see if M1 would be more amenable now that their fighter has lost a little of his bargaining power, because many people would still be interested in finally seeing Fedor in the Octagon. But I'm not actually surprised by any of this. Dana openly detests Fedor and his organization, so this was always going to happen at the first opportunity Zuffa had. Fedor vs Overeem is the logical next step, but I'd rather just see Fedor retire. I don't like that fight for him, he's too far declined now.
It was exciting, but it would have been better if he was not laid out by a lhw, which in terms of your original post is more to the point in terms of competitiveness. Do you want to see the guy seriously hurt for the sake of your entertainment? Id like him to retire before he goes down the Cro Cop & Nog route tbh. Who's he going to fight to get the one win? The guys lost 3 in a row decisively, where is the slightest indication that he can even go on a run, not including what he did in the past? There is none, zero, zilch. I hope he retires because I care for his wellbeing more than an exciting fight, he's provided enough of them to satisfy me. And Im not justifying Overeem not being in the Tourney. It's another case of Managers and Promoters stalling a guys legacy for the sake of a percentage
Here's hoping you wake up one morning and realize that this glass mandible shite stopped being funny about 3 years ago on the General Forum, and that no-one is remotely impressed by it. Then maybe you'll become a good poster. Yawn.
Yes, it was exciting. That bears no relevance to his ability to draw PPV numbers or his ability to compete with top-shelf HWs. If he got beat up and KOed by a natural MW then he's not going to be beating any decent HW these days, so who the **** do you give him to get that "one win"? Call up Choi for a one-off? See if you can track down Giant Silva? Mir isn't fit to hold up the jockstrap of a prime Fedor but I'm not even sure that I would pick Fedor over him these days and hell, if Brock doesn't get caught right off the rip he'd probably take Fedor down and smash him, as well. All fight promoters are scumbags and you're fooling youself if you think otherwise, but some are less scummy than others and Dana isn't that bad. He plays hardball and he doesn't tolerate any sort of bull**** from fighters but it's not just in the interest of making himself money, but making sure that MMA doesn't devolve to where boxing is these days with numerous worthless titles and fighters that have the power to blackball great match-ups for petty **** and greed.
If the rumor about Lorenzo offering Fedor a two fight contract at 500k each and M-1 insisting on co-promoting at this stage...then I don't blame ZUFFA from walking away. It's hard to tell on the surface if this is a business decision or just personal butt hurt Dana.
Editing a quote is surely a much more devastating reply in a debate than simply producing facts. Well done.atsch If there weren't tons of dumb ****s that claim that Arlovski, Kirkland, and the rest of the Glass Jawed Frauds in combat sports don't suffer from poor punch resistance but rather poor defense, bad balance, were sick, blah blah blah there wouldn't be any need for Chinchecking but there are disgusting fanboys and deniers all about and the Chincheckers produce balance. Thesis (No Glass Jaws) + Antithesis (Glass Jaws proliferate) = Synthesis (happy balance) By beating legitimate HWs in impressive fashion, the way most fighters do.atsch
No, unlike you people who see Dana on the same level as Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot, I've been watching for years and I've seen how his business practices have taken the sport from being something that anybody legitimate wouldn't touch with a fifty foot pole to the hottest new sport around. I never said he hasn't done petty things, he has, like the AKA/video game deal but it got resolved and nobody got hurt over it. Petty is a shitty company like M-1 Global demanding the world's #1 MMA promotion to co-promote so that they put up one asset, Fedor, the UFC puts up the real cash, and they split it at the end. ****ing stupid.
