I would bet Fedor in a rematch too. The man isn't in the twilight of his career, imo. He came in great shape... he will come in great shape again... and he will win if they rematch. This time, I bet Fedor will fight a smarter fight, and keep it standing.

Sometimes the best game plan isn't necessarily fighting to your strongest strength. Even if Fedor's ground fighting is his greatest asset, he is clearly a more superior standup fighter over Werdum than he is a ground fighter over Werdum, this is very very obvious. It is OBVIOUS that fighting in the guard of a fighter like Werdum is a bad idea for Fedor. It was obvious before the fight. Sure, he could win there (he didn't). Hell, he might fight Werdum on the ground and win in a rematch. That's not the point.

Josh Koscheck beat Hazelett with his striking not because striking is his greatest strength but because grappling is Hazelett's greatest strength. It isn't as simplistic as just "I am a INSERT HERE fighter therefore I must INSERT HERE against every opponent I face."

Yeah, I mean, it's not like we've ever seen Fedor win a fight by standing and strikingatsch. It's not as if we have ever seen Werdum lose to superior strikers.
