Because Overeem is in it, and is Fedor too high?

I think that list is pretty accurate except I would put Cain at #4 behind JDS, Werdum, and Fedor. If Fedor beats Werdum in a rematch he goes back to #1 though.

apologies, he ain't number 1 in the heavyweight division either.

for me, cain velasquez is currently number 1. werdum 2nd. fedor 3rd. brock 4th. jds 5th. overeem 6th.

actually, drop them all a number and put JDS in 2nd place. maybe put overeem in front of fedor and brock too.

    tough to say.

    1. Cain
    2. JDS
    3. Werdum
    4. Fedor
    5. Lesnar
    6. Carwin
    7. Mir
    8. Big Nog
    9. Overeem
    10. BigFoot

How do you justify Werdum at number 3? If anything he should be number 1. He beat THE MAN. The consensus number 1 heavy in MMA. On that basis Cain should be number 2 at best.
You then have JDS number 2? Based on what exactly? Who did JDS beat to warrant such a high ranking?
Fedor looses one match in 10 years and drops to number 4?
Who has Nog beaten that allows him to even still be ranked in the top 10? He got destroyed by Mir and Cain. Fights once a year and has one win in recent times over Randy. If the criteria ( as we keep hearing time and again ) is based on "what have you done lately" then Nog should be 10 or just outside it in my eyes.
Overeem holds the SF title as their inaugural champ. He has wins over name MMA veterans in Fujita Thompson Hunt a NC with CC and a dominating win over Rogers but somehow this deserves him such a low ranking? As a champion in another organisation and a bonafide threat in K1 is it realistic to have Mir and Carwin ranked above him?

Werdum lost to Dos Santos, and squeaked by Silva with a questionable decision.

No love for Roy Nelson? Jokes aside, he beat Werdum.

He loses one match in 10 years to Werdum. Werdum lost to Dos Santos.

Overeem's K1 success and massive size gain do make him look as though he is a force to be reckoned with. It's still just speculation until he defeats someone of note.

Nogeira defeated Tim Sylvia. If that is a quality win for Fedor, it is a quality win for Nogeira. Nogueira also defeated Couture. Couture had defeated Gonzaga. Gonzaga had knocked out CroCop. Just because I think Overeem can take Nogueira if they fight does not give me justification to rank him above him. If Overeem were to defeat someone of note, even BigFoot Silva, I would have him above Nogueira.

    1. Cain
    2. JDS
    3. Wardum
    4. Fedor
    5. Brock
    6. Overeem
    7. Carwin
    8. Mir

9 and 10 would probably go to someone like Big Foot and Big Nog.

Well first things first, Nog was the consensus #2 HW in the world when he entered the UFC. You can't just drop him off the list because he's lost twice to guys who have since proven themselves to be legit contenders.

JDS knocked out Werdum who went on to tap Fedor and he's been on a great win streak so I see no reason not to put him at #1. Like I said, if Fedor avenges his loss to Werdum then he goes back to #1.

Overeem's K1 career has no affect on MMA rankings. Do you really think a win over Brett Rogers (Fujita, Thompson, Hunt are not relevant) is better than Mir's wins over Nog, Lesnar, Kongo, and Cro Cop or Carwin's over Mir and Gonzaga?

First off Lesnar was a nobody when he entered the UFC. Mir kneebarred him. Big deal. The guy had a 1-0 record FFS.
Nog is shot. I dont think a win over him is anything more than a just a win over a name opponent. In my eyes its not a win that should have propelled him up the rankings. And remind me who exactly is Kongo again.

Carwin definitely has a solid shout with solid beat downs of both Gonzaga and Mir. But other than those two wins his record is completely nondescript. I just dont see anything in his resume that says 6 in the world. Lower half of the top 10 or just outside.

Nog had seen much better days but that doesnt change the fact that he was the consensus #2 when Mir beat him. So yeah I think Mir's wins over the consensus #2 in the world and some decent heavyweights in Kongo and Cro Cop ranking higher than Overeem's over Rogers and Buentello.

The Lesnar win is more impressive in retrospect because Lesnar won the title two fights later but its kind of a moot point.

I think that speaks to the state of the HW division more than anything. Just look at how Brett Rogers and Big Foot are getting ranked just based off of beating Andrei Arlovski.

    No.

Whatever your lists looks like, Fedor has to be #2 at highest, that is what happens when you are coming off a loss.

The HW division is hard to rank right now, and I'm not even going to try, but if a list has any integrity it can't have a guy who just lost as #1.

  14. After Brocks performance he shouldnt even be in the top 10, JDS and Cain are unproven and should be scraping the lower half of the ten, Fedor, josh and Werdum should be in the top 5, Overeem im still undecided on.

Fedor should be number 1 or at worst number 2, Werdum should be number 2 or at best number 1.

Looking at skills and accomplishments alone then Fedor should go straight up to number 1.

If by p4p you mean only as good as your most recent fights then Shogun is probably no1 with GSP 2nd.
