Nobody is unbeatable - shouldn't be a big surprise.

Oh **** ! i have to see it !....who did it ?
any vids ?...I bet now everyone is gonna speculate about his next mma fight vs Arlovski.

I've noticed that fighters start losing as soon as they try to have a partial , cinema career. (like crocop did...he then got koed by randleman) ...Couture and his ****ing scorpion king...lol

maybe it'll happen with fedor too ?

    Ok that's the latest apparently....

"he lost to a bulgarian...just read the article. he'll take 3rd in this years sambo championship"

"He lost on points, 8 to 5"

"He got thrown down midway through and didn't have enough time to make all the points back up"

"he got thrown once and then held down which gave his opponent 8 points, Combat Sambo rounds are only like 5 minutes too and it happened fairly late on in the round."

He lost against a guy called Blagoi Ivanov (he already defeated him several months ago) but he lost the rematch.
    that was their first match

can't find the latest one though.

the article says that Fedor lost to Blagoy Ivanov by points 5:8 in the semifinal.
Ivanov could provide one clean throw which gave him a lot of points (not sure how much). And just with a minute of the match left with a score 8:1 Fedor scored a knockdown, which gave him 4 points. But eventually lost with 8:5 score!

“I absolutely don’t want to dispute my loss – said Fedor.- I deserved the loss.”

Bulgarian is more of a wrestler, and not striker, as we say. Though I also doesn’t consider myself to be a bad wrestler. At one of the moment I couldn’t block his grip and Ivanov could threw me on the canvas. And I couldn’t win back enough points.”

Combat Sambo is such a good way of training for MMA.

It allows punches, but they are only there to set up your throws, its the perfect way to teach people to properly set up their takedowns, and how to deal with punches coming at you, but without much serious danger because people don't really get KO'd much or even hurt much in the sport because only a KO would matter since the throws are what scores.

Also it allows more time for groundwork than Judo, and allows leglocks, and I believe that combat Sambo allows chokes unlike the strictly grappling sport sambo.

Fedor has developed his striking to be a weapon in and of itself, but originally he used it as a tool to get the takedown, and it was highly evident where he learned to do it.

Oh, and somebody sign the Bulgarian to an MMA contract right now.

Everybody loses, its better to lose in your favourite art (sambo) than what really matters (MMA), especially when its only on pts.

This in no way tells us anything about Fedor as an MMA fighter, knowing him it will probably make him more lethal in the ring/cage.

Ps. rumour has it that the only loss in Rickson Gracie`s entire adult life was in a sambo tournament... Rickson has fought in BJJ, wrestling, judo & sambo tournaments for yrs just to test how good his BJJ was by defeating other grapplers at their art using their rules but he came unstuck in a sambo tourney.

Rickson says they never explained the rules properly, this particular tourney had a rule were if you throw a guy & both feet lift off the ground (this might not be exact but its there or thereabouts) then you automatically win, this happened to Rickson who says if he knew of this rule then he would have taken better care not to be thrown.

Who knows eh ? but better to be thrown than submitted I suppose.

Sounds like an insignificant loss for MMA. From what I read, it seems that Fedor knocked the guy down and got some points for that. Than the other guy managed to take Fedor down and just lay on him for more points. That's how he won. In MMA, this would probably result in a standup. Not like he subbed Fedor or hurt him... The man just lay on him until he got the points.

    Woah!
Even though this is insignificant in the grand scheme, Fedor just has this reputation, this aura, this myth of being unbeatable, being unstoppable at everything. So this is quite the shock to me!

I hope this isn't a bad omen for the Arlovski fight!

Rickson is lying pure and simple, any sport Sambo match ends if one guy throws another so that he lands flat on his back with the other guy remaining stading. Ron Tripp hit an Uchi Mata and that was the end of the match.
