Scurla, why are you spamming these old quotes at me? I know Fedor's reputation, I know the esteem he is held in by other fighters. All those quotes, not a single ****ing one of them addressing anything at all relevant to my post that you quoted and responded to. Fedor looked like **** last weekend. He wasn't shot, he just devolved as a fighter. For whatever reason, he phoned it in. The 34 year old GOAT isn't supposed to fight like a drunken Chris Leben, ESPECIALLY when he's coming off TWO inside-the-distance losses. But that's what Fedor did. Not only did he fail to lift his game, he DROPPED his game, and lost his third fight in a row because of it. That might mean absolutely nothing to you in terms of impacting his reputation and legacy. It tarnishes it SIGNIFICANTLY for me. :hat
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x85269_fedor-emelianenko-vs-andre-arlovski_sport fedor, bald, pudgy 2 years ago getting beaten up...survives by catching a chinny arlovski he's been headed downhill for awhile
Bla bla bla you're not saying anything. I like how you can dismiss the quotes from legends of the sport like Couture and co because your useless opinion based on nothing more than semantic drivel surely has more merit. The good thing is most the MMA community doesn't share your ridiculous opinion. Legacy tarnished? FFS....
This post, like your last four posts before it, is nothing but you throwing a tantrum and telling me I don't know anything, while refusing to respond to a single point I have made. Here's a simple question for you. At what age would three stoppage losses in a row HAVE negatively impacted Fedor's legacy? 33-34 is so old that he apparently gets a complete pass. Even though the three guys he lost to were two years younger, the same age, and SEVEN YEARS older. So he isn't losing to young guns, he's losing to his own generation. What about 30-31? Would three consecutive stoppage losses at that age have affected his legacy? How about 27-28? :hat
If you'd have made a point i would have responded. Turns out this post like all of your posts is just empty rhetoric. This just in! Fedor in training for the Henderson bout: This content is protected Bet that made you feel all warm and cozy inside.
How young would Fedor have to be before three consecutive stoppage losses DID negatively impact his legacy? Would he have to be in his 20s still? :huh :hat
I notice all those quotes are from fighters of yesteryear...... no big surprise there..... listen we all know Fedor was the best of the B graders 10yrs ago, the game no longer tolerates unfit sloppy fighters of the past, Fedor isn't in the calibre of the modern HW like Cain or JDS or even the LHW sensation Jones.
I think the point is that all those quotes were probably made BEFORE the Werdum fight, probably before the Silva fight and definatley before the Hendo fight. It is not unreasonable to reassess a fighters standing based on recent events.
Is Ali's standing diminished because of losses towards the end of his career? What about Tyson Duran Hearns etc? His standing doesn't change. He is still the GOAT. You can be as semantic as you like. It's pretty cut and dried to me.
Ali's losses towards the end of his career? Give me a break. Totally different. Ali was 38 and coming out of retirement and was already showing the signs of Parkinsons. he was basically a punchbag for the whole fight. No refelxes, no speed and no co-ordination. He was shot to ****ing bits. He then went on to fight Berbeck after that. Fedor was winning 2 or the 3 fights he lost with the other guy stunned. We don't even know if it is the end of career yet, he might fight on and put a streak together. All the guys he fought and beat in Pride have not done that well since the organisation folded. Fedor is only 34 and obviously never killed himself cutting weight. He is not chinny, has not lost his refexes as some of the quick shots that backed hendo up before the stoppage were actually sharp and accurate. He just got super sloppy as he did against Werdum and paid the price. I SAY AGAIN THESE THREE LOSSES HAD VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH ANY PHYSICAL DECLINE. Maybe he just finally started beliving his own hype against Werdum then once the confidence was knocked against Silva got desperate and a bit of self doubt crept in.
FFS is it really that difficult to extrapolate what is a wholly valid comparison? You're blabbering on about Ali's physical condition and completely missing the point. Rather than go by the body of evidence all im hearing is if but's maybe's moot and preamble. The thread title says Fedor = Overrated. It's abundantly clear he is not anything of the sort. Im done with this ******ed discussion.
moronic statement really ali lost 3 of his 4 final fights, starting at age 36 srr started losing fights at around age 35 duran started losing fights around 29 BJ penn has 2 losses and a draw in his last 4 fights (and 7 total) hendo, 8 losses...most to the pride guys you trolls try to **** on the fact that fedor has had a string of losses and not alternating wins and losses really actually shows just how past it he is
Fedor is not passed it. This may not be the end of his career. Until we KNOW either or both of these things to be true chalking down losses to them as it's the only way you can comprehend him not winning is verging on denial. If I wanted to be a ***** I could say that the three losses come at a time when he is no longer fighting in Japan in worked fights or against washed up bums thrown out of the UFC. I don't belive that to be true because there is only circumstatial evidence: SAME AS THE 'WASHED UP' THEORY. I am basing my opinion on actual evidence and there just isn't any that he is shot other than he lost. So if we agree that he lost these fights becuase the other guys were better on the night it MUST affect his standing as for one thing it may indicate the competition in Pride wasn't that good.
No. No and No. MMA and boxing are totally different so the comparisons are a bit pointless. MMA is such a new sport it is evolv..changing all the time. Boxers do so mucg sparring and weight cutting and roadwork and they take so many punches from more padded gloves it has a much worse affect on the brain. In a MMA glove you get hit you get KO'd, the other guy jumps on you it's over. This causes less trauma on the head than taking repeated shots, then going down, getting an 8 count then continuing etc. There are many ways to lose a MMA figt and Fedor lost by 3 different routes. Can you not even consider there may be more to it thatn Fedor loses = that's not the real Fedor. Becuase if not you belive in invincibility.
jesus ****ing christ you are ******ed....now it's back to fedor lost to an "evolved" henderson....**** off ****
