This past May, the younger (and more powerful and perhaps better overall) brother of Dmitry Chudinov outgunned Felix Sturm to claim the WBA super middleweight title recently stripped from Carl Froch. Heading into that engagement he was the interim champ and coming off two consecutive early knockouts versus unbeaten prospects ranked in the 15-20 range. Don't pay any mind to it being a split decision, by the way - Chudinov bossed it clear on everybody's scorecard except that one drunk judge.

He is now trained by Roy Jones, Jr. - who at 46 is also still actively campaigning in the ring. Jones is experiencing a renaissance in Chudinov's native Russia, where he is very well received and seemingly on his way to becoming a citizen. He says he is teaching Fedor some much-needed head movement (Fedor has little; his brother Dmitry virutally none) and refining his body punching game.

In just under three weeks he makes his first defense on the road, against 17-1-1 Frank Buglioni in his challenger's backyard of London. Buglioni is a popular ticket seller at home and will have a rabid cheering section, but this probably won't save him from Chudinov's ham-hocks rearranging his face if the beating Sergei Khomitsky subjected him to is a basis for comparison.

It will be interesting to see how Jones' tweaks work for Chudinov. He is already world class just by virtue of being a slab of granite with solid fundamentals and plenty of high-level international amateur experience to draw upon. A few more wrinkles and maybe a dash of American slickness could make him even more dangerous - or, this could just be a horrible fit and completely backfire.

Also, we finally gets Roy Jones vs. Steve Collins, in a sense. Collins will be working Buglioni's corner. :hey

Feigenbutz is nothing special whatsoever. Chudinov toys with him even without Roy in his corner. :yep

Feigenbutz chin isn't very good since he was stopped in his second match, and that's a big liability against Fedor.

He's okay but athletically unimpressive, slow and seemingly quite small for SMW, he's better than Dmitry but I cannot see him having a lasting world title 'run'.

The annihilation of McCulloch and Perez impresses me almost more than does beating an old blown-up Sturm, to be honest.

Chudinov has thunder in his fists, already more than Dmitry, and if he adds more finesse under Jones as well he could end up far surpassing his brother, who at one time was much better known and more well thought of.

And he fights like a total goober every time I've seen him.

    Just clumsy and dumb.

Chudinov would KO him within 3. Hell, Buglioni stands a better chance of beating Chudinov.

Yeah, speed definitely isn't part of his makeup but he's a slow guy with excellent footwork (receiving lofty praise for it from RJJ, in their short time working together), good timing and concussive power.

And Buglioni stands only about 3% chance himself.:yep

I saw his fight against Sturm. Absolutely unimpressive. I was expecting a lot more considering the hype the man has gotten after fighting Sturm. 168 lbs. is a terrible division, though. I can see his title run lasting, but if he faces Degale or Ward, he'll lose.

He has to rematch Sturm in december, for no reason.. don't know how much Sturm paid to the WBA but that is a very bad joke.. so no Feigenbutz fight after this one...

Ugh, just because it was a SD because of that one stupid judge?

Anyway, not like Feigenbutz is a better opponent than Sturm.
