hell yeah he looked real good. Only chance arlovski could have had to win is keep it standing to a decision because he was clearly out striking fedor.
I actually watched the fight again. Arlovski was winning the round but he was in no way dominating Fedor. Arlovski won the initial exchange. They clinched. They traded knees. Arlovski tried a takedown that Fedor blocked. They clinched some more. John McCarthy separated them. Arlovski threw a good right and caught Fedor with a kick to the mid section. Then Fedor hit him. Watching the fight again while Fedor didn’t looking comfortable at the end he really didn’t look that hurt. It wasn’t like the Fujita fight. More than Arlovski’s boxing, I think that what seem to trouble Fedor slightly was Arlovski’s speed. Fedor has very fast reflexes. I’m not sure he’s ever fought anyone one whose reflexes could match his. In the fight Arlovski seemed just as fast if not slightly faster. Unfortunately, in a five round fight though Fedor was always going to hit him at least once. Arlovski is a great fighter. I think he’s better now than when he was the UFC heavyweight champion. Though it didn’t air on TV, the way he shut down Jake O’Brien, who’s a great wrestler, in his last UFC fight was very impressive. His takedown defence is phenomenal; his hands are some of the best in MMA and his submissions are good. The problem is his chin. Arlovski has lost six times in his career. Five of those losses are by KO or TKO. That’s always going to be his problem
I am almost positive that I heard Arlovski yell out " THIS IS SPARTA!!!" when he did that front push kick... I think that is what got him too excited, leading to the flying knee.
Arlovski looked to be pulling a Sugar Shane on Fedor until he decided to jump knee him in the head. One mistake cost him the fight. He should have stuck to his gameplan of boxing.
