The best part about bringing up this fight is people don't even bother to research what the rules were. This was under RINGS promotion and they heavily valued knockdowns and submission attempts, while take downs and positional control was not viewed as meaningful. So let's do this the easy way: Round 1 - Arona clearly won this round just by controlling Fedor and nullfying everything. Round 2- close round but Fedor won the standup and had more submission attempts, he gets this round. Round 3 - Aron was gassed and Fedor clearly won. Basically, RINGS didn't value wrestling that much. I kind of look at this fight like the Randleman-Rutten fight. While yes that was under unified rules, the judges didn't value the lay and pray stuff. Just because Fedor was on his back doens't mean he lost. He had much better submission attempts then Arona and won the stand up.
Wonder if that Beebs posting on the first page was Beebs the boxing dweeb from YT? He is an anti E.E. bigot so his opinions were not suprising. He also thinks Ward got a legitimate KO over Kovalev and had Ward winning the first fight.
Shame the rematch never happened in Pride. Arona was a nightmare for EVERYBODY. Brutal leg kicks, awesome grappling, and also had that nasty streak in him.
