    Fedor Emelianenko (31-4) will forge on with his career Nov. 12 when he meets onetime UFC heavyweight title-challenger Jeff Monson (42-12) at an M-1 event in his native Russia.

    That's according to Monson, who on Tuesday tweeted that the fight was "confirmed" for an M-1 event. A city and venue were not a part of his announcement.

    MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) sources said that while the bout is tentatively agreed to, no contracts are in place.

    Vadim Finkelstein, co-founder of M-1 Global and Emelianenko's manager, confirmed over the weekend that the former Strikeforce fighter would fight in "late fall" against an opponent to be determined.

    It's Emelianenko's first fight since an ill-fated bout with Dan Henderson at "Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Henderson" that ended with him dazed on the mat after a peekaboo punch from Henderson in the first round. After the July bout, Emelianenko said he wasn't sure whether he'd continue to fight or retire from the sport.

    It was Emelianenko's third consecutive loss, and it led UFC president Dana White to declare the former PRIDE champion was cut from Strikeforce, which is owned by UFC parent company Zuffa LLC. M-1 Global officials said Emelianenko was not under contract with Strikeforce – and instead Showtime – and would continue to work with the premium cable network.

    About 5-6 years ago Monson left the UFC hoping to make this fight. Looks like he finally got his wish. Only problem is it doesn't mean a dam thing. Massive fan of Jeff. But of Fedor can't beat him it's seriously time to call it a day.

    Winnable fight for Fedor, as Monson cant punch for ****. I guess Fedor (cough cough M1) is happy to milk the fans in Russia for a few more years

    Monson makes Fedor look like he's in the heart of his prime. Should be ugly for Monson, he'll probably even lose a few more teeth.

    Monson's standup is uber pathetic. Absolutely this should be in the bag for Fedor. But im not so sure anymore...

    If Fedor learned his lesson from the Hendo fight then no, Monson is getting ktfo. In his last 2 outings Jeff was used by a punch bag by an 8 fight novice wrestler, and got stopped by a guy named Cleetus Sacks, I **** you not

    But as you said in the OP, this fight means zero.

    A few years ago i would have been happy about this fight. Big BIG fan of Monson since his Abu Dhabi days. But this fight is truly meaningless.

    Fedor doesnt want to be in there, and who wants to watch someone with that attitude go through the motions against a no hoper.

    But I guess he's got to earn his 8% in the M1 cash cow somehow....

    Sad to see the best of his era reduced to this. But that's the fight game I guess, no room for sentimentality

    It's a pathetic fight really, hopefully it's just been set up as a way for Fedor to say goodbye to his home fans and then he can retire.

    10 years ago this fight would've been interesting. Now I could give 2 ****s. Oh well, Monson via submission???

    You guys knew that Monson is scheduled to fight Gonzaga 1 month before the fight against Fedor ?


    and WTF is wrong with wikipedia now ? We can no longer see the futur fight in the record !!!?!

    Good fight for Fedor, one which he can win.

    Just like Roy Jones, Fedor can get wins and he can get cheeky wins that make him appear relevant but like Jones, Fedor isn't just good, he is special and that special somethnig no longer looks to be there. He doesn't appear as sharp, as durable or as powerful anymore.

    I expected Fedor to dispatch of Silva, like Cormier did, but he didnt'!

    and this sir is the reason Fedor shld retire...... Big Foot looked like an amateur against Cormier, yet he dominated Fedor the fight b4.
