I am a boxing fan. I have never been interested in MMA really because it basically reminds me more of WWF than of a real sport. The UFC is almost only Americans, so the fights are as interesting as the American Boxing Championships, but they are not real world championship no matter what the ufc guys want us to believe. Fedor said that this was the main reason why he did not want to sign with the ufc, because he wants to fight the best, not just the best americans. Now - I have never ever anticipated a mma fight before. I have never seen one live where I had waited for it and usually I would see replays or on the internet the ones I have seen. However, Fedor-Sylvia gets me interested.... to me this is a personal historic day. I hope there will be many more like this because I will never ever wait up for two guys fighting under the same umbrella fighting. That is why ufc fights are not somethign I would wait up for. I almost would for the serra-gsp II but I didnt. Anyway - that was my rant as a long time boxing fan and a potential mma fan. Anyone knows when this fight will start in Australia, Melbourne time? And where on the internet I can see this? If I can, I want to see this one live over the net.
Uh... The UFC has much more than just americans. Have you taken a look at who half of the Champions are? That's another UFC myth that needs to go away.
True. However it can also be deceiving.. Example , Anderson Silva is their champ. (brazilian) but his competition basically always comes from america. (hendo , franklin ,marquardt , lutter , leben)... Antonio Nogueira is brazilian (HW champ)...But again... Apart from Werdum ,kongo & Gonzaga...when you look at the bigger picture. it's mostly a huge portion of american fighters vs a tiny % of foreigners. Which is impressive because even though there's not a lot of foreign fighters , they still find a way to grab the belt. Or to be contenders.
non sense...not long ago alot of the best HW's were in the UFC and Fedor didn't sign. And if he wanted to fight the best and they wern't in the UFC who has he fought in the last few years?????
I think when eastern fighters talk about America, they include North and South as the same. in that case, who outside of the America'S does the UFC promote? Konga? Bisping? Okami? maybe a handful of fighters at best and they don't realy promote Konga.
