Fedor has 1 fight left on his strikeforce contract...If he wins , maybe he'll re-sign for another 3...He said that he felt comfortable with them...

And Werdum said that he'd gladly have a rematch with Fedor either in Strikeforce or in russia..

If this fight happens...who do you see winning and why ?

I would personally say Fedor. But once again...it would be very risky on the ground. Fedor beating werdum on the ground wouldn't be impossible...but he'd be taking big risks for nothing imo.

Werdum's submission was very impressive , but at the same time , fedor seemed too confident...Maybe he tought that it would be a replica of his fight vs Nogueira back in 2003... The outcome is more disappointing than shocking imo.

It's no wonder both kharitonov and arlovski avoided the ground as much as possible. Because they knew this guy was a nightmare in the jiujitsu department. Have you guys seen These fights ? especially the one with Kharitonov ?

Boring as ****...utter crap...But at the same time , it was the only way to play it "safe".. But that's not fedor's style. He always attacks no matter what , he's always playing an offensive game & tries to beat opponents at their own game... And this time he paid for it.

a stupid error he could've avoided...but what's done is done...At least he lost against the most decorated adcc hw participant in mma.

In a rematch , it would be wiser to use a similar gameplan he used against Nogueira in their 3rd fight. A fight in which he was mostly forcing nog to fight on his feet...

Fedor by KO. I think he would have won by KO last night had he not swung like a maniac on the ground vs arguablly the best Jiujitsu guy in the world thats exactly the same as swinging wildly vs Ray Robinson or someone like that you get your head took off. I expect a few KDs maybe alot of butt kicking but Fedor wears him down for a 3rd round finish just being alittle more safer but not totally safe.

The winner was suppose to get overeem and most thought Fedor would win setting up a huge fight for the title. it doesn't seem fair to Overroid to get bypassed to give Fedor a rematch. Who get's the title shot? It should be Overeem-Werdum for the title.

And that's what it's going to be...You don't understand , this possible rematch would OF COURSE take place AFTER overeem vs werdum II...

I do understand, Is Fedor going to fight someone in the meantime because his contract will be up after his next fight?

Yes , one more fight..then his contract is finished...So a potential rematch would only happen if he signs for an additional contract. There's been rumors that he would retire (because of his political ambitions)...but it's not exactly the case , he denied the rumors by saying that he'll keep on fighting as long as he feels physically apt to continue (still be in great shape).

I doubt he'll wait long enough to end up like Nog...(nogueira is like a zombie now)

Fedor hasn't been taking damage like Nog has taken either, I think the loss will motivate him and maybe he will stay around for a couple more years.

Werdum had an excellent stand up and ground game strategy. A rematch is tight. Again, it would depend on execution.

If Fedor keeps it standing and refuses to engage Werdum on the ground ala Arlovski, then he takes the rematch no problem.

Fedor ..I think e realises how much respect he needs to give Wedrum from now on especially on the ground .

This wasn't Brett Rogers so he needs to play it safer ..

Holy **** i actually agree with you:lol: It should be Overeem vs Werdum, but i have a feeling from a business standpoint it will be Werdum/Fedor 2.

    Rematch? i pick Fedor Ko/TKO 1.

    Of course?

I disagree. Give Fedor an immediate rematch. The guy is the longest reigning best MMA champion of all time. He deserves an immediate rematch when he loses. Overeem's alphabet soup title means nothing.

    Agreed.

Fedor looked very beatable in the Rogers fight. I'm not saying he has slipped but this is anyone's fight.

Fedor was the reining champ and arguably the biggest legend in MMA along with being the p4p best fighter in the world. It's completely justified in him getting an immediate rematch.
