All of that means nothing because, after the 2x losses to Liddell and before he usurped Sylvia, he was NOTHING. Let's put it in perspective - Liddell is coming off 2x losses right now. How would you feel if Fedor called HIM out? It's the same thing, Fedor called out a 205lb fighter who had just been knocked out twice. When the tables turned, though, and now that Randy is the clear #1/#2 HW in the world and reigning UFC Champion, calling out the mighty Fedor...he runs away to Russia so he armbar cans and win "sambo tournaments".
Woah, there buddy. When will you start getting your facts straight? Fedor, is pumped and ready. He already said, he will fight Couture any time. Oh, thats right, Couture signed that shitty contract where he can't fight the best in the world but the people in his org. Fedor doesn't need to fight Couture prove his greatness. Its the other way around. At this point Couture has nothing to lose even if he gets devastated or wins he will retire either way. He did have something to lose back in end of 2006 thats why he didn't fight Fedor. Randy a clear #1 or #2? Wow, man. I was wondering why you were so head deep up your ass about this. Its all clear as day now.
Yes, he calls out Couture knowing that he can't fight because he is under contract..... And is Fedor really scared of Big Bad Dana so much that he chooses to fight in an org with no fighters in it. And at that time when Fedor decided to call out Couture when he got ktfo against a LHW, why did he not call out Sylvia, why call out a 43 yr old that had looked terrible in a fight at 205 and was knocked out cold for a few minutes????? Does Fedor really want to fight the best?? because at that point Randy was not at his best. And I'm not saying Fedor is really afraid of Couture or would even loose, but you have to admit he hasn't been doing much lately to proove he's the world #1...which I still consider him, but if he doesn't fight someone of note soon, I think peoples opinion will change.
How is Randy NOT the clear #1/#2? He dethroned a legit UFC Champion in Sylvia and dismantled the UFC #1 contender in Gonzaga, who himself took out Cro Cop. Or maybe in "Fedor land" that guy he fought for the "World SAMBO title" was the #2 contender? The difference between mid/late 2006 and now is that in mid/late 2006, Couture was just another has-been lined up for a Fedor armbar. As of 2007, he's a legit threat to Fedor's status as "best HW in the world".
I'll agree with that. In my book he lost his #1 p4p several weeks ago when Rampage beat Hendy. Radiant, seriously dude, come talk to me when you'll learn to look at 2 sides of the story. Also, imho you should check your priorities of what statistics to use while ranking fighters. i.e, instead of looking at 2-0 out of 2 fights at some point you should look at an overall picture.
Dude, you need to realize that this is MMA, where you are only as good as your last 2-3 fights. I don't give a **** if a guy is 100-0 fighting cans, going 2-0 against the #1 and #2 contender is all it needs to make you the NEW #1 contender. Fedor's last three opponents have been - Mark Coleman (Great win....if it was still 2002.) Mark Hunt (Good win, but not great - Hunt isn't top 10 by anyone's book) Matt Lindland (Excellent fighter! A middleweight, but an excellent fighter!) Randy dominated Sylvia and Gonzaga, and now holds/held the UFC belt. He's only 2-0, but that's 2-0 in fights versus a champion and #1 contender since he made his comeback and revitalized his career in the summer of 2007. I'm not saying Couture would beat Fedor - not at all. I think Fedor would win. But you have to admit that with the recent unveiling of many former PRIDE superstars as jokes in the UFC, his status as #1 HW is at risk. His last ranked contender was CC almost 2 years ago, and we know what a monster CC is nowadays. Maybe boxing has some things right - if George Foreman (230lbs) decided that his next title defense in 1974 would've been against Monzon (a middleweight)...he would've been stripped of his belt.
Fedors last 4 fights Zulu.....................JOKE! Coleman................Shot to ****, not been good since 2000. Hunt.....................Kickboxer (who almost subbed Fedor and was dominating the fight, till Fedor got the sub) Lindland.................A blown up 185lb'er It's a farce!
Couture is a great match up vs Sylvia(thx to Couture's plan must admit). Couture only started to win the fight when he broke Gonzaga's nose. Before that it was all dirty boxing and clitching from both sides. Even though Monson lost to Sylvia he would've been much worse match up for Couture. Fedors last 4 fights were descent except Zulu. And he won all of them decisively. If you think Hunt was close to submitting Fedor then u definitely don't know wtf you're talking about. Come talk to me when you get some BJJ lessons or something. The only person who was close to submitting and didn't finish was Fedor and his armbar from which Hunt got out cause Fedor was nice enough not to break Hunts arm. That thing was tight enough but Fedor just didnt yank it more. Hunt is a can? He is a K-1 champion. And he WAS top10 in many people's rankings at the time. Coleman is shot cause he lost to Crocop, Nog, and Fedor, pretty much all of them were top3 when he fought them. He is not a can. Lindland was 210-215 lbs when he fought Fedor, hardly a middleweight. Just cause Toney was middle doesn't mean Sam Peter won against a middle weight right? They were both HW's at the time of the fight.
Mark Hunt is exactly that, a former K-1 champion. K -1 = kickboxing, UFC/PRIDE = MMA. Big difference - Hunt is worthless once you get him on the ground. He was a threat in kickboxing, but he's never been a real threat in MMA. Coleman is shot because he's old and hasn't beaten anyone good in years, he's been losing to the journeymen too since about 2001-2002. Just cause Lindland weighed 210-215lbs doesn't mean he was a good heavyweight. If Mayweather blew up from 147 to 190 and got knocked the **** out by David Haye, people wouldn't call it a good win, even though Mayweather is P4P #1 right now. A 185lb fighter weighing 215 is just that, a middleweight masquerading as a heavyweight. Matt Lindland at 215 is a heavyweight, but not a good heavyweight by any means.
why not , he does have some valid points. He keeps bringing up why Couture didn't fight Fedor a couple years ago when Fedor apperently called him out after Liddell knocked him unconscience. My question is why would Fedor offer a 43 yr old 205er 3 mill that has had the **** kicked out of him by Liddell twice in a row? Doesn't it make sense to challenge Liddell or even the HW champ Sylvia at that time. At that time Randy had a fork in him, what was Fedor going to do?...beat a dead horse? why does Fedor like left overs? and why in the **** would he (supposidly) offer 3 mill to guy who was use to making a fraction of that and had just got ktfo? doesn't anybody else find this strange?
Ahah, you guys are so bad at this. What happened to the offer from Fedor and Pride to fight Sylvia prior monson fight? By your own words why should Fedor bother accepting shitty and uncomfortable contract to fight a 43y.o man? Well, that 43yo had a chance year ago, he didn't accept better deal and a tougher opponent supposedly cause of his "loyalty" to the company he's been swimming upstream with. He has a chance right now to fight Fedor for the same 3mil dollars. The worst that can happen is Couture won't be able to fight in the UFC(he won't want to after his last fight) and some ***** penalty that will be made up by his purse vs Fedor either way. Hunt was never a threat, tell that to Silva and Mirco. You can't compare Mayweather with Lindland buddy. Not same weight classes, not same body structure. Lindland at the VERY least walks 195, day to day, even with his 170lb greco silver medal. He can gain extra 15lbs by eating an extra meal and going to weight room instead of running an extra mile. He can be a decent heavyweight, obviously not top 10 but he can beat quite a few people from UFC hw's. Radian, seriously man, stop embarrasing yourself and at least go to sherdog or something and check your facts. According to you, Nog, CC and Fedor, are journeymen...
:nut :nut He'll get sued the living **** out of him for breaking his UFC business contract. Silva should have won. Crocop is not good against advancing fighters or ones that can withstand his attacks, mentally CC is a bit of a wimp. You're grasping for straws, Fedor fought a blown up middleweight who can't even hang in the Light heavy weight division, Lindland just lost to Jackson, then Fedor challenges him! Jackson was a free agent at that time just like Lindland, why did Fedor challenge the loser of that fight instead of the winner? That fight was a joke, if any other HW fought a 185lb'er they would get slaughtered by anyone with a right mind, because its 'almighty god' Fedor he gets excused. That fight was a farce and should have never happened.
