Primadonna Kool's earlier comment about doms is correct.

You will actually find that a post workout static stretch (3-4 hours post workout, warm the muscles first with a brief skip or jog) and a some very light gpp drills on the following day will help to control the doms.

I read this and understand your point.

I have always been active, I was a competitive gymnast a few years ago, I swim and cycle regulary. I never got into the whole gym culture, (I think the mirror in front of the treadmill put me off) my face goes pink when my heart rate accelerates and wont go back to my normal human colour for at least half hour after I stop exercising! I suppose thats a vanity thing.

I just want to be healthy in the long term, being out of action for a few months was all it took and I miss how I felt at my peak. I'm trying to convince myself that I am not vain but the more I type the less convincing I am

It's all about Vanity, if you want other people to like/love you, it starts with loving yourself..taking pride.

All good info...and ensure that you are 'dressed to sweat' until you have increased your core body temp and have some sweat developing....at that point you can peel off some outer clothing as required.

No gym today. I will though. Today I'm taking a run to the pool, swim for an hour and walk home.

Entered myself in the race for life. It's only a 5k but its not a bad place to start. Started leaving my car at home and walking as much as I can. I'm not mad for running but I find if I take my ipod, the time goes before I know it. It's worth it for the good mood I'm in after!

When is it? Can you already run that distance or do you still need breaks?

I have injured my back and have decided to do something different, i walked up a mountain near where i live, i am aching all over, my body is screaming at me to rest, I am listening to my body because without him I can't walk, listen to your body if you are aching, it is telling you to rest.

I have been doing a comfortable 5k regularly, didn't push myself averaged about half hour. Was surprised at how it affected my whole body, not just my legs, got wrist and ankle weights to help speed up my development and it seemed to be doing the trick. Unfortunately, I fell down a flight of steps outside my house last night and my right ankle is swollen and very sore :patsch got the race in less than a fortnight and I'm feeling a bit foolish.
