Has anyone ever seen a boxer feign being hurt at some point during a bout, to intelligently lead their opponent into a trap? Just a random thought, I can't remember ever seeing someone try it...but I'd assume it would be quite entertaining. Post examples if you have any. :good
There was one point in the Khan Maidana fight where I thought Maidana may have been doing it. It was near the corner and he just sort of stood there looking a bit open pulling a face. Can't remember what round.
I noticed the same thing. He was like completely gassed and hurt and after that launched a sudden attack
I part wondered if Mayweather does because he has a massive smile whenever he gets tagged, but sometimes boxers just have that reaction to being hit
I thought the exact same thing, a couple of times actually. Khan would land one of his flurries, and Maidana stepped back towards the ropes, almost looking to see if Khan would come in to throw more. But I actually think that Maidana was getting a bit hurt, tired and frustrated. I can't remember the round but at one point Khan was stood in the middle of the ring with Cortez while waiting for Maidana to get of his stool. He really looked reluctant to do so.
Didnt jake la motta do this? I think its a smart move. I didnt think maidana did it, seemed to me he got hurt, angry and fired back. On thing that was funny to me was him keep pulling his trunks up, up to the point khan catching him with a bodyshot once he tried to pull them up.
Maidana took a long time to get up from the corner at the beginning of the 10th round. It was like he was completely gassed and didnt want to continue but we all saw what happened afterwards.
Yeah Lamotta used it to set up the Dauthielle knockout. Seems like I saw kassim Ouma do this, I can't remember which fight.
Some old-school fighters did it. James Toney used to play possum to lure his opponents inside so he could counter them.
