the only loss pernell whitaker says is legitimate in his career apart from the last fight where he was inactive and went through a drug obsession cycle.
Tito showed why he was better than DLH in his prime in this fight against the guy that makes the very best of fighters look mediocre even if they win:bbb

pernell didn't say that and when asked who he rated of the three in their primes he put trinidad #1, I remember seeing this on hbo a while back it was during one of those pre-fight documentaries for one of the corley fights

pea was way past it when he fought both of them, its impossible to compare

in the fight before oscar, he was behind on all 3 cards to diabolys (however u spell his name) hurtado and he managed to come out in the 11th and put one of the most vicious beatdowns in modern memory on hurtado (like a dozen bombs in a row without reply) after his corner told him he needed a knockout to win... guy was a true warrior with tons of heart and he wouldve handled both tito and oscar easily in his prime.. EASILY

If oscar stopped and fought the last three rounds he would've been stopped himself, he knew this otherwise there is absolutely no reason he would've gone out the way he did, anybody thats been in the ring before knows when they're about to be taken out, and just like sam peter knew last saturday Oscar knew in the next couple of rounds he would get tired get backed up to the ropes and he would most likely get caught, if not ko than the kd would be enough to seal the victory either way oscar was winning 5-3 going into the 9th, trinidad closely won the 9th and swept home the rest of the fight and won fair and square, oscars fault for not going out like a man by getting knocked out

So if its Oscars fault what does that say about Tito how does that make Tito better?.. If we compared rounds won.. Oscar won his even more decisively then the ones Tito won.. How is tito so much better is what im trying to get here. I give props to both fighters. both are great fighters

Sweet Pea had a different game plan vs Tito. He was told to make Tito pay for missing and went in there a flat footed version of the way he fought Hoya. Sure, he was beaten more decisively but because he fought to prove he could go toe to toe after loosing to Hoya and realizing he can't leave it up to judges. Let's not forget he also landed much more readily on Tito than he ever did on Hoya. Tito's kd is a real kd. Hoya's was an off balance slip when grazed by Pernell's arm as he switched stances.

DLH gave away his win to Tito...Tito didnt beat him. We all know that. Why do people make threads as a specific fighters fan? Do it as a neutral and let the rest prove what you want your point to be. Many in this thread are disagreeing with you (except the PRicans).

DLH clearly faced a better version of Whitaker than what Trinidad did. Trinidad faced a post drug rehab, inactive Whitaker who fought flat footed instead of fighting to his strengths, which was making a fighter miss with his trickery. He tried to walk Trinidad down because he no longer had the skills to move like he once did. The Whitaker that faced DLH would have clearly outpointed Trinidad, though even that Whitaker was past his prime.

The Whitaker that faced Chavez would have clearly beat DLH and near pitched a shutout on Tito.:deal

I don't think Whitaker ever has an easy time at 147 against Tito.

Not that he wasn't better than Tito & DLH, he was, but he was smaller. He was more suited to the lower weight classes and his dimensions were smaller.

Stylistically I don't see him ever shutting out either guy, especially Trinidad. Trinidad's size, punch selection, accuracy, and straight right hand would always give him some success against Pea, even if he'd still ultimately lose the fight.
