I was in the forums before his fight and everyone told me that Sammy was the future, no one give Felix chances of win, i don't know why, he is a really good fighter.
I was told left, right and centre that Sammy Vasquez is the truth. I had never seen him fight before. Felix Diaz is a very good fighter BUT has a bit of a Mauricio Herrera syndrome in that he throws a lot of arm punches, or punches that have virtually no pop on them, so can be perceived as less effective than the opponent (who if good, would be the cleaner puncher). He's also a little guy for welter it seems. For this reason, scorecards don't usually favour him and he has no fan base yet so there's no agenda to favour him in judging.
Didn't shock me. I saw it as a clode fight. Only reason I slightly favored Vasquez was because I thought Diaz would struggle with the size.
He was my favorite really but I thought since this is a PBC card he'd be robbed again like he was vs Peterson.
I've been watching Diaz for some time ago, he can really do good things, just bad trainers and manager.
Two southpaw fighters, it was awkward. And that cut on the mouth---ewwww, nasty ish. But Diaz definitely was in the zone for that fight. Hope Sammy gets another chance.
Worst part of this otherwise great fight is people on here trying to validate in any form a draw. :-(
