What a fight if Savon had ever turned pro -- he was so dominant in the amateur ranks. I think that he could won a title and been one of the top Heavyweights of his era. A good jab that set up a dangerous right hand. It wouldve been nice to see him fight Lennox --

Castro is the person who hurt boxing

Just for you guys that don't know who Felix Savon is he was the 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist. Only a couple of fighters did that in history.

He smashed some good American HW too -- a few of them had titles later on in the pros. He lost in the Cuban Championships to Solis in his last fight.

Savon wouldn't be undisputed champion and lennox lewis would knock him out.

A couple that I can think of were Lamon Brewster, Shannon Briggs, Sultan Ibragimov, and David Tua.

Being a top amateur boxing is nothing like being a top pro boxer, and lennox lewis is better than savon.

How doesn't that mean anything - you see every style imaginable and you learn to adjust to different styles very quickly.

He got to see the best every country had to offer and he beat the best out there. I agree it doesn't transition to the pros, but this guy was 6'8 w/ long arms and power in the right hand.

I don't see how he wouldn't have been a good pro. It wouldn't have taken him long to get a title shot - he probably wouldve done it faster than any HW in history. With his background -- promoters wouldve lined him up with stiff competition and by 12 or so fights he wouldve already been fight 12 rounders and fighting for a title.

I dn't see where i put he wouldn't have been a good pro, i just think lewis was betetr suited to the pro game and that savon wouldn't be the undisputed champion.

To each his own -- you can't assume that all cuban amateurs are going to have the same attitude towards boxing.

It was apparent that Gonzales was caught up in his own hype and figured that he was going to get everything just by saying he was.

I'm pretty sure Savon's attitude wouldve been more discipline - given that he was consistantly winning on a high level.

Exactly what i said lennox lewis knocks him out. It might be a good fight but without ever seeing savon as a pro it is hard to tell how competative a fight it would be.
