I wonder if Lennox could have won any more olympic titles, had he stayed amateur? My guess is yes, there doesn't seem to be anyone who'd be an obvious favourite to beat Lewis since '88.

Savon would've won............if he was about 28 and Lewis was like 16. Savon usually did good under those circumstances.

What do bowe do as a pro?

He openly avoided a fight w/ Lennox ... "if lennox wants this belt, he can get it out the trash, then we all can call him a garbage picker."

That's why I said "if". As it stands, Savon likely gets beaten in the pros by most of the young guys he beat in the amateurs as well.

    Why? and how?

You have to consider that Savon never went pro because of Castro.

And you have to consider that, among the big names he beat, he usually had about 4 or 5 years on. Considering he fought amateur until he was about 28 or so, constantly fighting teens or those who had yet to even come close to maturing as boxers.

age doesn't mean anything in a fight. Tyson was 19 knocking out grown men.
Despite them not being on his level - you make it seem as if age means something.

its a fight and if you can fight better than your opponent - age shouldn't mean anything.

It should mean somethinyour opponents have yet to even coming close to reaching their peak as boxers. How many boxers peak as amateurs for Christ's sake? These were young kids who had yet to even come close to maximizing their potential. He was a grown man, 33 years old when he won his last "amateur" title against teens. Obviously the guys he was beating were nowhere near what they would become.

Sorry, but your post is bascally saying that you don't have the slightest clue about Amateur boxing. Amateur boxing is a whole different sport than professional boxing and the rules that apply for pro boxing doesn't apply for amateur boxing and vice versa.

It's a total myth that age gives you an advantage in amateur boxing, spread by pro boxing fans who know nothing about Amateur boxing. It's actually quite the opposite, the nature of amateur boxing is that younger fighters are usually better than older boxers. You can see LOTS of examples were really young guys were very successful, including Savon himself - he won his first world championship at age 19. Hanging with the young guys for a large period of time like Savon did is actually quite an extraordinary achievement in Amateur Boxing.

All of which aren't really that great pro HW fighters. Lewis is on a totally different league.
