not possible, to win a darwin award you need to prevent yourself from reproducing in a stupid way, like killing yourself in a dumb way or cut your dick of by accident, obviously him excisting proves they have failed and therefore cant win darwin awards:p

There were many people Calzaghe could've fought in his career, but didn't. Here are only some of them. I've not bothered putting in guys like Mundine or Echols.

His career could've been a whole lot different if he'd not been so content to stay at home defending the WBO smw title for so so long.

No way could Joe have had any of those 27 fights Kitti. He had unfinished business with guys like Rick Thornberry (as Thornberry had tiled his new bathroom and had made a right shitty job of it, hence their WBO title fight).

Im not even going to talk about the much b*ll**** you talk on this post and just stick to the point.

Did you see how big that stadium in Germany was?

It was huge. Only a few fighters in the World could sell more live tickets!

If Sturm can sell more tickets in Germany than any US fighter that he could fight can, why don't they go to Germany and fight him??

He's the Champ, he's more popular, the fight makes more money in Germany. Go get him!

    Another whole lot of B*ll****.

Yes he could have had a few more fights, but most of that list is complete sh*te!

I'm not going into all the fighters on that list, but....

RJJ and Hopkins didn't want to fight him. We can argue about it, but Calzaghe was always high risk low reward.

The other section from 2003 is even bigger b*ll****!

Froch and Dawson in particular were talked about in that time. However, both them and most of that list were all small deals at a time Calzaghe wanted to get paid. Half those/almost all those fighters you list had no fans!!

Calzaghe was an old man. He retired content. No need to talk about the list from after his retirement, but most are on a different level and haters would be saying they were all over rated after he made them look average.

Doh, knew this would turn into a Calzaghe thread..

Of course you aren't. Because you know you would look utterly ridiculous trying to say he couldn't have made any out of 27 fights that he didn't make, when was making time to fight Sobot, Ferreyra, Thornberry, Starie, Veit (twice), McIntyre, Brewer, Jiminez, Pudwill, Mkrtchyan, Salem, Ashira and Manfredo Jr.

No and my first line was he could have had more high level fights. However, I stand by most of that list being b*ll****. Just listing all those fighters is highly biased and doesn't tell the whole picture.

One, in his early career no one wanted to fight him, he didn't even sell many PPV's in the UK so couldn't get lucrative fights in the US - he was high risk low reward. Two half the list, if he did fight and win, you would rate those fighters as the same ones you list above. Three, he had to fight madatory challengers and four, for example Manfredo was an easy pay day and had more casual fan following than most on that original list so made more money!

Yes his resume could have been stronger, but in the main it was down to other factors (commercial, general divison and timing of other fights) that made his resume weak in his early career.

The fighters listed he should have fought at the time he fought RJJ and Hopkins were a joke.

OK, next time you reply to my post, try and actually refute any of it:

All that nonsense you wrote did not come close to explaining why fights with all of these cans were made while none of the fights on that list were made.

There are too many potential fights there (
    This content is protected
) and too much time (
    This content is protected
) for you to be able to write them all off. Many of these fights could have been made. None were. But many, many cans were fought.

    This is all undeniable. :good

To be honest. I'm quite sick of the bull****......

"You have to go the USA and prove yourself".

Joe Calzaghe owned the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, Ring Magazine Super Middleweight titles BEFORE he went to the USA.

Why the **** go to America when the belts aren't in America? :nut

The other thing is that Americans themselves refuse to go to Europe. To fight the CHAMPION. Europeans always go to the ****ing USA to fight the champion, but not the other way around.

Infact European champions go to America to fight the number 1 contender. that's bull**** to me.

Jeff Lacy did have the IBF belt, and he did have the balls to fight Calzaghe in England. But look what happened there.

My argument, if you read it, is that the list as a whole on it's own with no context is b*ll****!

I'm not saying good fights weren't made. I'm saying it's not nearly as drastic as that list makes out and it wasn't as simple as saying it was down to Calzaghe not wanting them! That list is just a b*ll**** biased no context list of fighters.

You're saying he ducked or avoided all that list?

Some fights could never have been made, some fights the timing was all wrong, some fights the guys would have been unknown at the time, some fights would have been poor financially, some fights were promoted by different promoters who never would have agreed on terms, some fights would have been sh*t anyway and the class would have been as he fought anyway etc etc.

I'm not going to spend the next hour writing next to each fight, I'm not that bothered or sad. Plus it's been done to death!

However, half the list were US fighters promoted by US promoters and they never would have sent there fighter over here in a not-their own promoted event to get beat. Apart from RJJ and Hopkins all the US fights would have made more money in the UK, Calzaghe was the Champ and there is no reason they shouldn't have happend here. Pretty similar with the other non-UK fighters.

You'd think these people were lining up to fight Calzaghe. They weren't!

What's undeniable is that list with no context is just names! :good
