Team Sauerland disappointed with Sturm for ignoring Arthur Abraham offer

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=15185&more=1

Wilfried Sauerland has offered Felix Sturm 1.5 million euros for a unification clash with IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham. Team Sauerland have filed an official offer for a showdown in Germany on July 19. However, Sturm once again failed to respond. “Sturm told everyone he wanted to fight Arthur and that he would win 24 rounds against him,” Sauerland said. “We are happy to prove him wrong. That´s why we have put a great offer on the table. This is the fight everybody in Germany wants to see..”

To get in the ring with Sturm, King Arthur would even postpone his highly-anticipated US debut which was scheduled for June 21. “I want to become super champion and unify the division,” the unbeaten 28-year-old said. “I fight whoever my manager picks. I would be more than happy to give Sturm a beating.”

King Arthur boasts an impressive record of 26 wins in as many fights (21 KOs), while WBA champion Sturm has just won four of his last six bouts (29-2, 13 KOs). “We can´t wait to get this fight on,” added Sauerland managing director Chris Meyer, who had submitted the written offer to Universum on Monday. “We´re waiting to hear from Sturm.”

Why is Sauerland offering a unification fight to Sturm when supposedly the IBF is forcing Abraham to fight Lorenzo ?

    Did I miss something ?

Maybe the IBF will make an exception for a unification fight like this and say that AA will have to fight Lorenzo afterwards.
I REALLY hope AA-Sturm gets made already. As a European (Dutch) fan i've been looking out for this one for the longest.
Might travel to Germany for it.

Sturm-Abraham is definitely a fight I would drive down to Germany to see.
Would be a great atmosphere and would be fun to celebrate Sturm finally being eliminated as a 'champion' in the MW division.
Sturm however knows he doesn't have a chance of finishing the fight with his consciousness and will do everything in his power to continue defending against the Jamie Pittmans of the boxing world.

I,too, would try to get hold of some tickets for Sturm vs Abraham, but I guess that the arena would be sold out within minutes.!
Well, their encounter wont come off within the next 2 years anyway!

Sturm's promoter Kohl wont take the risk of matching his main fighter with the hard punching Armenian in their base Germany. Sturm earns big bucks by defending his title against the likes of Pittman and Griffin. There is no need for him to risk his title against Abraham.
